Speciality: Choreographic Direction of Modern Dance Theatre and Art Management
Awarded qualification: Master of Choreography and Art Management
Level of qualification: Master
Specific admission requirements: Educational-and-qualification degree Bachelor obtained in one of the majors included in the area of Choreography – Bulgarian Folk Dances, Contemporary Dance Theatre, Variety Dance Theatre, with an average score Good 4. Graduates in other majors need to have an adjustment semester, in order to acquire fundamental knowledge in the field of Dance Arts.
Specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning :
• Senior lecturer Maria Kardzhieva, e-mail address: m_kardjieva@avb.bg – the ECTS coordinator of the major provides initial information and advice about the possibilities for recognition and allocation of credits from prior learning - formal.
• Procedures:
- Academic transcript or diploma from previous education;
- International diplomas and certificates for computer skills, corresponding to ECDL (the European Computer Driving License).
• Credit allocation:
Based on the results from the certification of knowledge and skills, and in compliance with the curriculum of the given major, the Department of Arts allocates a certain number of credits.
Qualification requirements and regulations: In order to obtain the respective qualification, students need to have a total of 60 credits, out of which 36 credits from compulsory courses, 6 credits from elective courses, 3 credits from optional courses and 15 credits from thesis defence.
Profile of the programme: On the basis of sufficient general and professional knowledge, as well as on the creative and artistic skills obtained in the bachelor programme, this major trains highly competitive specialists in the area of dance art and culture management.
Key learning outcomes
Students acquire knowledge of dance and theatre dramaturgy, modern dance techniques, skills in creating and directing stage dance works and performances. Special emphasis is placed on the problems related to the realization of the modern genre called "dance theatre". Students are expected to be able to organize the processes involved in the management of culture, to work out entrepreneurial, marketing, strategic and business plans.
Occupational profiles of graduates
Students who have successfully completed the programme can find professional realization in the area of dance art, as choreographers, ballet-masters and directors in professional and amateur groups, artistic managers of schools, freelance artists, directors of various kinds of performances, in the area of tourist animation, choreography teachers in secondary and higher educational institutions, specialists in the field of culture management.
