On 07.02.2023 Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" start the implementation of project №2022-1-BG01-KA220-SCH-000087865 "Financial Literacy for the Economic Development of Society" as a leading organization.
The project is co-financed by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union.

Financial literacy means much more than managing money and budgeting at a basic level, the consumption and saving habits of individuals in households reflect the financial nature of society. In today's socio-economic conditions, it is important for people to have financial literacy knowledge in terms of both predicting and solving financial problems and leading a prosperous life.
Financial literacy is a key skill, and the project aims to develop this skill from an early age by using digital methods and materials.
Expected results:
1. Prepared curriculum and teaching materials on financial literacy, which will be taught at the secondary level by the experts in the partnership.
2. The content and activities in the curriculum will also be included in a prepared digital edition.
3. A digital portal will be created where students and teachers will have access to financial content and will be able to conduct online financial transactions. The portal will allow students to perform simulations of: calculating credits, withdrawing money, depositing and monitoring financial transactions in a virtual environment. The virtual environment will be used for hands-on training regarding their financial literacy.
The final meeting of the project 'Financial Literacy for the Economic Development of Society' No. 2022-1-BG01-KA220-SCH-000087865 was held at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" on February 11th, 2025. The meeting was attended by partner universities and educational institutions from Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, Ireland and Finland, representatives of the Regional Inspectorate of Education, the Regional Agency for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and school headteachers in Varna.
VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", a key organization in the implementation of the project, coordinated the activities for the development of the curriculum for financial literacy training. The lecturers from the Department of Economics prepared the content of the educational modules and participated in their implementation. An official website and an e-book for teaching financial literacy were developed within the framework of the project. Training was provided to teachers who implemented educational modules in schools in Greece, Turkey and Bulgaria. The created digital portal allows for interactive training of students and development of educational resources.
The successful implementation of the project makes it possible to meet the growing needs of society for strengthening financial literacy and cooperation between educational institutions of the countries. The results show the key role of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" in developing educational approaches and resources for the development of financial literacy of young people and will stimulate the improvement of the qualification of teachers in financial literacy.
From 15.01.2025 to 17.01.2025, a partnership meeting was held in Adana, Turkey under project N 2022-1-BG01-KA220-SCH-000087865 "Financial Literacy for Economic Development of Society". The project is co-financed by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union, KA2. The partners from Yavuz Selim Secondary School were the hosts. Representatives of all partner organizations attended the meeting.
The partners discussed the implementation of the project and planned in detail the upcoming activities and tasks.
Representative of Varna Free University, Bulgaria made project monitoring and follow-up tracking all activities carried out to date. Partner Context Learning Finland Oy from Finland made a digital book presentation. Later the assessment and evaluation presentation was presented by Universal Learning Systems Ltd, Ireland. Pilot application results of the digital platform were presented by Platon M.E.P.E.р Greece. The host Yavuz Selim Secondary School, Turkey made a separate evaluation on pilot application results of the digital platform. Sustainability plan and adding content to digital platforms were reviewed by Yenilikçi Eğitim Derneği, Turkey.
The meeting ended with a discussion on the final activities, administrative and financial reporting of the project.
From 02/05/2024 to 02/07/2024, a partner meeting was held in Katerini, Greece under "Financial Literacy for the Economic Development of Society" project No. 2022-1-BG01-KA220-SCH-000087865. The digital journal (Sections and Content), the digital portal (Sections and Content) and teacher training to create a curriculum were discussed by partners. The content of the curriculum, the financial literacy curriculum and their presentations to students from all project partners were also discussed. The curriculum will be piloted by two of the partner organizations - schools from Greece and Turkey.
The partners discussed the progress on Work Packages N2 and N4 and the activities and tasks to be completed until the next meeting in Finland.

In the period 13-15.11.2023, in Turin, Italy, with the participation of representatives of all partner organizations, a partner meeting was held under the project "Financial Literacy for the Economic Development of Society" No. 2022-1-BG01-KA220-SCH-000087865. The meeting was hosted by IIS Albert Einstein, Italy.
The partners discussed the content of the financial literacy curriculum, determined the methods and techniques that will be used in transferring the content, the content that will be uploaded to the digital portal and the creation of an initial version of the content. On May 29-31, 2023, the first Partner meeting under the project "Financial Literacy for the Economic Development of Society", №2022-1-BG01-KA220-SCH-000087865 was held at the Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar", with the participation of representatives from all partner organizations from Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, Ireland and Finland.
The project is co-financed by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union.
VFU presented the project, its goals, expected results and target groups. The roles and tasks of each partner, which must be fulfilled during the implementation of the project, were discussed.
The partners discussed the necessary actions for popularizing and disseminating the results of the project.
A representative of VFU briefly introduced to partners the administrative and financial rules for the implementation and reporting of the project according to the rules of the Erasmus+ program of the European Union, as well as the requirements for document storage.
The meeting ended with specifying dates for the next partner meetings on the project.
