On 01.09.2019 Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" has started the implementation of the "Access To Universities for Persons with Disabilities - ATU" project N2019-1-BG01-KA203-062530 as a Leading Organisation.
The project is co-financed by Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

The project aims to support exploitation and advancement of inclusive HEI systems with minimising the risks possibly connected with undertaking new challenges through providing adequate analysis and information. We will collect both best and not successful practices fro partner countries and other available resources presenting solutions implemented in European and other countries, needs to be met, problems and limitations faced, analyse them in depth, make a model support services list with adequate descriptions and conclusions and recent research, elaborate ideas for structure and organisation within the HEI system, develop the model awareness building activities that could and should be implemented in HEI systems to maximise positive impact of support services for students with disabilities and what is extremely important, we will provide testing of implementation of various solutions and elaborate methodology for their effective implementation.
On December 3 and 4, 2019 Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” hosted the Kick-off Meeting on “Access to Universities for Persons with Disabilities – ATU” project 2019-1-BG01-KA203-062530 as a Leading organization . The project is co-financed by the EU Erasmus + program, KA2.
VFU presented the project, its objectives, target groups and expected results. The roles and tasks of each partner were discussed, as well as the intellectual outcomes that each partner should coordinate by verifying that the tasks are within a reasonable timeframe.
The partners discussed the necessary actions to promote and disseminate project results.
VFU representative briefly outlined the management and financial rules for implementing the project under ERASMUS + program. A representative of the VFU also presented the administrative and financial rules, as well as the reporting requirements and rules for keeping the financial records.
The meeting finished by specifying the dates for the next project partnership meetings.
From 27.04.2022 to 29.04.2022 the second Joint Staff Training under the project "Access to Universities for People with Disabilities - ATU" №2019-1-BG01-KA203-062530 was held under the Erasmus + program, funded by EU. The second Joint Staff Training was organized by Masarykova univerzita, Brno, Czech Republic. The event was held in person and online via Google Meat platform, with participation from all partner organizations.
During the Joint Staff Training the current state of the project, the results achieved so far, as well as the intellectual result O5" Methodology of implementation of support services into the HEI systems" was discussed. This Methodology will be a practical tool to support other higher education institutions that decide to implement support services for students with disabilities.
Masarykova univerzita, Brno, Czech Republic presented to the rest of partners the training materials prepared by them on the topic, discussions and in-depth analysis of the collected information on the final structure and content of the intellectual result O5. The event was aimed at providing and obtaining as much information as possible about the expertise and experience of each participant on the topic of support services for students with disabilities, problems, limitations, any possible significant indicators for establishing a process of inclusive systems for higher education. During the event, it was an opportunity for flexible organization of work, division into smaller, thematic groups, brainstorming and exchange of new ideas.
The main goal of the Methodology of implementation of support services into the HEI systems was to provide an opportunity to exchange experiences and good practices on the main topics covered by the project: what are disabilities, types of disabilities, legal frameworks and norms, their specifics and approaches to work with students with disabilities.
In conclusion, administrative issues were discussed, such as the holding of the third Transnational Project Meeting, the forthcoming activities for all partners to organize the Multiplier events and the reporting of the project.
