VFU "CHERNORIZETS HRABAR" SHARED ITS PERSONAL FINANCE COURSE WITH SCHOOLCHILDREN

The personal finance course generated a great interest. It was led by the prominent Bulgarian financier and university lecturer Prof. Daniela Bobeva, PhD. The Faculty of International Economics and Administration of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" shared the course and invited schoolchildren to participate. Along with the university students, more than 35 students from 8th to 12th grade from the Varna Trade Secondary School "G.S. Rakovski", First Language School, Fourth Language School "Frederic Joliot-Curie", Secondary School "Geo Milev", Secondary School for Humanities "Konstantin Preslavski ", National Arts School "Dobri Hristov " in Varna, as well as from the Profiled Secondary School for Romance Languages in Burgas, the Vocational School of Light Industry in Montana, the Secondary School of European Languages "St. Cyril the Philosopher " in Ruse, the Profiled Secondary School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics "Nancho Popovich" in Shumen and others.
For 30 hours, first-year students and schoolchildren will learn how to plan and manage their personal finance, how to build their personal economic model of their future development, how and how much to risk, how to make money, but also to fulfill their dreams and ideas. The aim is to acquire knowledge for making sound financial decisions, achieving maximum financial effect and effective risk management.
In her first lecture, Prof. Bobeva spoke about the economic foundations of personal finance. The participants commented on concepts such as inflation and deflation, the weight of the consumer basket, as well as the formation of the personal budget. The visiting students were given the task to present Bulgarian proverbs and sayings related to money, wealth and poverty in order to understand the impact of folk psychology on personal finance.
The course continues in the interim vacation - 1, 2, 3 February, and at the beginning of next week - 8, 9 and 10 February 2022 from 8.45 to 12.50. Schoolchildren can still register for participation.
Prof. Daniela Bobeva, PhD is a lecturer at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" and an international financial expert with over 20 years of experience. She was Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria in the period 2013-2014 and Minister of Trade (1997). For 11 years she has been the Director of the European and International Directorate at the BNB. She managed projects for introduction of European principles and good practices in the banking system of Egypt, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, Macedonia. Former Chairperson of the Foreign Investment Agency (1995-1996).
