Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" opened the new academic year

Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" opened the new academic year with a solemn ceremony. Special guests were Prof. Dr. Miglena Temelkova - Chairperson of the Council of Rectors, Iliya Koev - Deputy Mayor of Varna Municipality, Vladislav Bakalov - Chairperson of the Standing Committee of Science and Education in the Municipal Council - Varna, Dr. Vanukhi Arakelyan - Chairperson of Varna Administrative Court, Maria Terziyska - Deputy Chairperson of Varna District Court, representatives of universities and scientific institutes, headteachers and representatives of secondary and vocational high schools, chairmen and members of branch boards of professional branches, partners from business. Prof. Dr. Teodor Stoychev from the Varna and Veliky Preslav Metropolias blessed everyone with holy water.

The president of the university, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Krasimir Nedyalkov, welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of education and the development of the university. He talked about the successful candidate student campaign and the newly admitted students with high marks from secondary education who chose to study at Varna Free University. The President drew attention to the growing number of foreign students - about 500 university and doctoral students from more than 40 countries choose VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar". They come from the USA, Great Britain, Russia, Ukraine, China, India, Bangladesh and Nigeria, which emphasizes the international prestige of the institution. Assoc. Prof. Nedyalkov emphasized the efforts of the academic management to transform VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" into a green university, thanks to the completed project of a photovoltaic park, one of the largest in the field of education. In his speech to the first-year students the president emphasized the leading place of a number of professional areas in the National rating system. "Choosing a specialty, and then a profession, do not be tempted by what is the easiest, most accessible or brings the highest income. Choose the profession that really attracts you and brings you joy," he pointed out.

In an emotional address, the president of the Council of Rectors, Prof. Dr. Miglena Temelkova, said: "My academic career began right here - at Varna Free University. Wherever I go, wherever the paths of my career and personal development take me, there is no way to forget where I came from. I always carry Varna Free University in my heart. Because here I learned to be who I am. In this temple of science and knowledge, you will also learn what you need for your future development as professionals. Do not spare effort and courage in learning. I am convinced that you have made the best choice - as I did. I hope that each of you returns to your native Alma Mater with the same trepidation I crossed the threshold of the university today". Prof. Temelkova wished Varna Free University to continue to uphold the name of private higher education, which has its key place in the Bulgarian educational space.

Makandju Nanyamka-Aju Nkululeko from California, USA, who will be studying in the master's programme Management of International Business Projects, gave a welcome on behalf of the students. She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to study in such a dynamic and international environment.

The rector of the university, Prof. Dr. Petar Hristov awarded diplomas to the students admitted with the highest score.

The university also opened the first shared Erasmus space, available to students 24/7. It is located in Building A and is a natural connection between the dormitories and study halls, providing a comfortable environment for collaborative work and independent study.

Immediately after the official opening, an induction day was held for new students. They had the opportunity to meet the lecturers, academic mentors and representatives of the Student Council, as well as the teams of the various administrative units of the university.

Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" once again strengthened its position as a leading private higher education institution in Bulgaria, expanding its international partnerships and introducing innovations in the educational process. With new opportunities and commitments opened up, the university continues to be a platform for educational and cultural development.
