On October 24, 2024 , the Varna Free University in Bulgaria and Guilin Tourism University held a video conference on international education cooperation. The video conference was co-hosted by Professor Yang Ming of the China Admissions Cooperation and Exchange Center of the Free University of Varna, and Ms. Law Sarah, Director of the China Admissions Cooperation and Exchange Center of the Free University of Varna.
Professor Lin Chunyi, President of Guilin Tourism University, and Mr. Yani Yanev, Vice President of Varna Free University, delivered speeches on behalf of the two universities, introducing the development of their respective universities, professional characteristics and advantages, highly evaluating the cooperation project, and also placing high hopes on the prospects of cooperation between the two universities. Both sides agreed that China and Bulgaria have a deep friendship, 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Bulgaria, Bulgaria is the second country in the world to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China.
President Lin Chunyi pointed out that Varna Free University is the largest private university in Bulgaria. The international education exchange and cooperation between Guilin Tourism University and Bulgaria is an important measure to implement the “One Belt and One Road” strategy proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping. It will surely promote win-win cooperation and common development between China and the world and contribute to the friendship between the two countries.
VFU Vice President Mr. Yani Yanev highlighted the prestigious status of Guilin Tourism University as a prominent institution within China's tourism industry. He extended a warm welcome to Guilin Tourism University, expressing eagerness for them to forge a significant partnership with Varna Free University. This is also the first important cooperation project carried out by Varna Free University in Guangxi after the establishment of the China Admissions Cooperation and Exchange Center. We look forward to more Chinese teachers and students going to Bulgaria for exchanges and studies.
Professor Chen Wei, Vice President of Guilin Tourism University, and Ms. Assoc. prof. Eleanora Tankova, Vice-rector for institutional cooperation and development at VFU, delivered speeches respectively , elaborating on the significance and cooperation methods of the partnership.
Professor Lin Chunyi, President of Guilin Tourism University, and Mr. Yani Yanev, Vice President of Varna Free University, signed a cooperation agreement on behalf of the two universities. The agreement clearly stated that the two parties intend to jointly carry out international academic exchanges; jointly implement undergraduate, master's and doctoral education cooperation; cooperate in international tourism, art and other fields to create a tourism study brand; and cooperate in education, science and publishing.

After the signing ceremony, the two institutions will also arrange designated date to jointly host the Bulgaria-China Education and Cultural Cooperation Alliance Conference and the signing and unveiling ceremony of the Varna Free University China Admissions and Cooperation and Exchange Center, which will be held at the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in China in Beijing, to further implement and immediately launch the China-Bulgaria (EU) doctoral and master's degree admissions.
