The Bulgarian translation of the "bible in urban studies" is by Assoc. Prof. Arch. Plamen Petrov, PhD - lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar". On 180 pages, Prof. Jan Gehl and his doctoral student Birgit Svarre present the knowledge of human behaviour in an urban environment on an equal footing with the knowledge of buildings and transportation systems. The main purpose of the publication is to promote urban life as an important part of urban planning. "Political will and leadership are needed to address the problem of urban life," the Bulgarian edition reads. "Studies can be an important tool for improving urban spaces, aiming at shaping human – friendly cities. Studies can be used in decision-making as part of general planning or in the planning of individual elements, such as streets, squares and parks," the book also reads. "How to Study Public Life" is a fundamental book with tools for everyone who strives to create better cities for people, said Rob Adams, director of Melbourne City Design.
