THE SEVENTH EDITION OF VARNA SPAGHETTI ENGINEERING INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FOR CREATIVE SKILLS IS TO START

For the seventh consecutive year, Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" has organized and hosted Varna Spaghetti Engineering international competition for creative skills.
This year the attractive competition will be attended by school and university student teams working on different tasks. The school students will compete for the best spherical dome, and the university students will make bridges out of spaghetti and silicon.
13 teams of school students from the vocational high schools of architecture, construction and geodesy from Varna, Plovdiv, Burgas, Sofia, Stara Zagora, Veliko Turnovo and Shumen have already confirmed that they will take part in the competition. The university students are majoring in "Construction of Buildings and Facilities" and "Architecture" from VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" and from the Kharkov National University of Urban Economy "Beketov". The university students will also compete for the nomination of the audience for the most attractive bridge.
The competent jury that will evaluate the projects consists of:
- Arch. Victor Buzev - Chief Architect of Varna Municipality
- Eng. Snezhana Mileva - Chairman of the Cahmber of Engineers in the Investment Design - Regional Branch Varna
- Eng. Penko Stoyanov - Chairman of the Bulgarian Construction Chamber - Varna Regional Representative Office;
- Galin Kolev - manager of "Na-Ve Bulgaria",
- Elena Koseva - Executive Director of "St. St. Konstantin and Helena Holding AD
- Assoc. Prof. Eng. Daria Mihalevа, PhD - lecturer in the Department of Construction of Buildings and Facilities.
A photo competition for journalists will be held as part of the event. Nine photos have already been selected from last year's competition, which will be included in the charity calendar for 2020. The money that will be raised from the sale of the calendar will be given for the education of disadvantaged children from the Department of Construction of Buildings and Facilities.
The International Competition for Creative Skills was created at the initiative of the Department of Construction of Buildings and Facilities of the Faculty of Architecture at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar". The purpose of this forum is to bring together school students from vocational high schools in architecture, construction and geodesy from the country, university students of VFU "Chernoridets Hrabar" and other related universities from Ukraine, Macedonia, etc. , as well as construction industry professionals for creating unique building structures made of spaghetti, and provoking students’creativity and at the same time developing their interest in the profession of the builder.
Permanent partners supporting the project with participation in it and by providing awards are Varna Municipality, Bulgarian Construction Chamber, Chamber of Engineers in the Investment Design and many construction companies from Varna and the region.
