The Scientific Conference 'Innovations in the Design and Construction of Buildings and Facilities' has started at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar"

The International Scientific Conference 'Innovations in the Design and Construction of Buildings and Facilities' of the Scientific and Technical Union for Construction in Bulgaria (NTSSB) began at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar". The Faculty of Architecture at the university is the co-organizer and host of the conference. The event was opened by Assoc. Prof. Lachezar Hrischev - Chairperson of the NTSSB and Prof. D.Sc. Dimitar Kanev - vice-rector of the university.

The forum gathers key specialists and scientists from Bulgaria, Ireland, Syria, Latvia and Turkey to discuss the novelties and challenges facing modern construction. Within the framework of the conference, 62 scientific reports will be presented, 28 of which will be published in the prestigious scientific edition of IOP Publishing, and the rest - in a specialized Bulgarian collection. Special focus is placed on the innovative approach in construction through the use of building information method (BIM), which integrates information management and documentation for construction projects.

The awards for the best scientific reports are something new in the 12th edition of the conference. The Eureka Foundation provides an award for the best student report. The Bulgarian Association for Insulation in Construction presents an award for the best scientific report to a young scientist in the field of Construction Materials and Insulation. The prize for the best scientific report of a young scientist in the direction Design of Building
Structures is provided by the Chamber of Engineers in investment design. Special awards will also be presented by the Alliance for High Construction Culture, as well as by the Bulgarian Association for Project Management in Construction. The honorees will receive their awards tomorrow at the official ceremony.

Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" continues to establish itself as a key educational and scientific institution with its programmes in the field of construction. The university actively works with the business and promotes applied research, aiming at building a sustainable relationship between the academic community and industry.

The conference continues tomorrow with more scientific reports and discussions that will range over new aspects of construction technologies and methodologies, presenting international experience and practices.
