Senior Commissar Atanas Mihov, the Director of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior (RDMI) - Varna sent a Thank-you Letter to the Rector of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" Prof. Dr. Petar Hristov and to the Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. D.Sc. Yonko Kunchev, thanking them for the invaluable help of the students from the Criminology Club, who are also part of the Corps of Witnesses for the State Authorities. In February this year, the director of the RDMI received a list of 40 students from Varna Free University who help the police on a daily basis in the pre-trial proceedings of investigations.
The initiative to create a Corps of witnesses for the state authorities belongs to the Criminology Club and it is the only one in our country. It was established a year ago after the first course of its kind for profiling of unknown perpetrators of crimes, taught by the Dean of the Faculty Prof. D.Sc. Yonko Kunchev. The Club involves more than 160 young people who are interested in investigation and criminology. Some of them actively participate in the Corps of witnesses for the state authorities, and have developed and published a handbook especially for this purpose.
The thank you letter from Senior Commissioner Mihov says:
"We sincerely thank you for your initiative to make the Corps of witnesses for the state authorities and the assistance provided by you and the participants in the project, which is of invaluable assistance in conducting procedural and investigative actions to investigate pre-trial proceedings with practical and legal complexity.
I truly hope that in the future we will be able to rely on your kind support and fruitful cooperation.
I take this opportunity to wish you good health, strength and success."
