Second and third-year students, majoring in Graphic Design at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" met the famous Bulgarian poster artist Lyuba Tomova. The event was held within the framework of an educational and cultural initiative that aims to enrich the learning process and provide students with the opportunity to get acquainted with the works and experience of recognised contemporary masters in the field of visual art and design.
Lyuba Tomova met with the students at the invitation of the lecturers from the Department of Arts of the university – Assoc. Prof. Viktor Petkov, PhD and Ani Dimitrova. She shared with the young talents her experience and the inspiring stories behind her posters. She not only presented the techniques and methods she uses in her work, but also discussed the importance of poster art as a means of communication and expression of social and cultural ideas.
Lyuba Tomova was born in Sofia in 1975. She graduated from the National Academy of Arts, Poster major. She works in the field of posters and applied graphics; she is a co-founder of Poster House graphic design studio.
She has participated in numerous poster forums, including: ANTI-NOVA 100 - Poster exhibition on the topic of Coronavirus - Wenzhou, Zhejiang, China; From the trenches. One day less, one more design - Barcelona, International Theatre Poster Biennale - Rzeszow; VIDAC — Republic of Korea; Golden Bee International Biennale of Graphic Design — Moscow; International Triennial of the Stage Poster — Sofia; International Poster Biennale in Mexico, etc.
She is the winner of a number of awards for graphic design, the most important of which are: First prize in a national competition for a poster "For a sustainable world"; Special prize for a poster from the 5th International Triennial of the Stage Poster; First prize for a poster in the 18
th International Biennale of Humor and Satire in the Arts, etc.
