THE DNA DAY UNITES SCIENTISTS FROM DIFFERENT UNIVERSITIES, SCHOOLS AND BUSINESS IN THE NAME OF SCIENCE

On the eve of the World DNA Day, the leading universities in the seaside capital - Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" and the Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov ”, together with the Mathematical Secondary School and the software company Quanterall, united by the research group BioMed-Varna, organise an online forum for presenting and involving people of different ages and interests in science.

The event is for school students from all over the country, students and lecturers, parents and experts. They will have the opportunity to learn about DNA and genetics, observe demonstrations, do experiments at home and take part in challenges. Scientific provocations are aimed specifically at school and university students. The younger ones will be able to participate in the creation of computer animations and games, creative projects related to arts, and the older students will develop mobile applications or entrepreneurial ideas.
As part of the demonstrations, scientists from MU-Varna will perform DNA extraction from strawberries and anyone can conduct the experiment at home. All DNA-related provocations will be developed within a month and will be presented on Scratch Day, Arts Week and during the scientific conference "Science and Business for a Smart Future" at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar".
Experts from the Departments of Medical Genetics and Anatomy and Cell Biology of the Medical University and Informatics and Arts at VFU Chernorizets Hrabar will demonstrate collective interdisciplinary practices and the relationship between the sciences. The students of the Mathematical Secondary School, who participate in the research groups of BioMed-Varna, will be active participants in the demonstrations.
The initiatives of BioMed-Varna at both universities in the field of bioinformatics are supported by the software company Quanterall, which invests in the development of solutions related to the development of biotechnology.
BioMed-Varna is an interdisciplinary research ecosystem that brings together experts from different fields in joint activities and projects to raise the prestige of Varna as an educational destination and City of Knowledge.
The forum is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar", the 60th anniversary of the Medical University - Varna and the 50th anniversary of the Mathematical Secondary School.
