22 Април 2021

The newly established "Criminology Club" at Varna Free University adopted yesterday the Statute of the organization. The club has already a Board of Directors - it is chaired by Alex Marinov - a student majoring in Crime Prevention and Public Order Protection at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", and its members are eight representatives of different universities with different professional and personal profile. They are the link between the academic and professional community.

The site of the "Criminology Club" - kriminalisti.bg, made by Alex Marinov was presented at the general meeting. A number of interesting projects on which the organization will work are already planned. Among them is the creation of a Virtual Museum, which will include exhibits from the Sherlock Holmes Museum in London, as well as elements of exhibitions of the former Bulgarian Museum of Forensics.

Prof. D.Sc. Anna Nedyalkova - Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" was elected an honorary member of the club.

"It is a great honour to be a member of the Criminology Club. I respect you for what you have done," said Prof. D.Sc. Anna Nedyalkova during the constituent assembly. The establishment of the Club, in the year in which Varna Free University celebrates its 30th anniversary, is an example of the mission of the founders, commented the Chairperson of the Board. Prof. Nedyalkova added that she is proud of the university. It is a proof that the young people have taken a new path and have fresh ideas, which they realize quickly and energetically. She wished the profilers to have the imagination to accept the boldest challenges and ambition to achieve their ideas and to take responsibility for the results.

The "Criminology Club" was established in February this year after the extremely successful course in "Profiling of Unknown Perpetrators of Crimes", taught by Prof. D.Sc. Yonko Kunchev - Dean of the Faculty of Law and Head of the Master's degree Programme "Forensic Expertise" at the University. More than 160 representatives of various areas of public life actively participated in the training - psychologists, lawyers, pedagogues, security experts, representatives of state and municipal structures, journalists and students from various specialties at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", as well as graduates from other universities. The participants agreed on the idea of being in contact with each other in various areas related to forensics. Trainings continue with Pravda Ilieva - a doctoral student in criminology at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" and a member of the Board of the Club. She presented to young profilers a profile of the first serial killer in Cyprus, and yesterday the significance of the tattoo for identifying perpetrators of crime was analyzed.
