THE CHOREOGRAPHY STUDENTS PRESENT THE MAGIC OF BULGARIAN DANCE

Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" invites the residents and guests of Varna to the Annual Concert of the Choreography Students, which will be held on 19 June 2024, at 6:30 pm in Hall 1 of the Festival and Congress Centre in the sea capital.
This year's concert promises to be a true celebration of folk dance art, uniting tradition and modernity in a fascinating spectacle. The programme includes 16 student projects, which are course assignments and diploma theses, and will be performed by more than 50 dancers – university students and students from the Secondary School for Humanities and Arts "Konstantin Preslavski".
The event presents the high level of training and creative development of the choreography students of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar". They will present a colourful palette of dances - from the magnetic beauty of the Bulgarian folklore to modern choreographic compositions. Through graceful steps and emotional performances, students will tell stories that will capture the hearts of the audience.
Mila Todorova is a 3rd- year student of Choreography at Varna Free University. As part of her training, she was in Razlog, where she observed the authentic re-enactment of the Babinden custom. This inspired her to create her course project as well. The themed dance recreates the beliefs of the different folklore areas, as we will see how the Pirin old women put their grandchildren in baby wraps, then on their backs and dance with them. "I am extremely satisfied with the final result of my project, which is due to the hard work with my fellow students and especially the teaching team, who always support, encourage and help us develop our ideas," Mila says. The third-year student Ivan Mitov will present a themed dance inspired by the Sedyanka custom, whose roots are in the beginning of work, but it also ignites the first sparks between young people. The theme of love will also be recreated in the projects of the students Teodor Dimov and Evelina Nikolaeva.
In the concert programme we will see performances of the Academic Dance Theatre of Varna Free University - the creative laboratory of the choreography students, where they implement their course projects and create works in various dance forms. The teaching team that works with the students is the recipient of prestigious awards such as the "Golden Lira" from the Union of Music and Dance Artists in Bulgaria and honorary plaques from the Mayor of the Municipality of Varna and other high awards.
The concert will be with the special participation of students from the Secondary School for Humanities and Arts "Konstantin Preslavski" in Varna, who are partners of the university and conduct their creative practice there. Students in grades 10 to 12 will showcase their talents and add to the variety and depth of the concert programme.
