School of Civic Education 'Youth Parliament - European Bridge' at Varna Municipal Children's Complex
Students from the civic education school "Youth Parliament - European Bridge" at Varna Municipal Children's Complex, participated in a training with organizational and career psychologist Tsveta Stoyanova. The event was dedicated to the topic of vocation and well-being in career guidance and personal development. The training was held within the framework of the programme for promoting well-being in education, implemented by the Center for Positive Education at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar". The programme is implemented in partnership with the Regional Department of Education - Varna, Varna Municipality and the Medical University - Varna.
Issues related to young people's understanding of happiness, the experience of satisfaction and meaning when choosing a professional path, as well as the role of strengths and virtues for academic achievements and relationships with others were discussed. The participants received information about various platforms for career guidance and the opportunity for individual consultations.
During the discussion, the young people shared their perspectives on the possibilities of the school environment to promote personal development and career aspirations. Among the topics discussed were the importance of extracurricular activities, the role of trusted adults in the education system, and ways to manage personal potential. The meeting ended with an expectation of future conversations and new initiatives to support young people in the process of realizing their calling.
The Center for Positive Education at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" was established in October 2024. The project builds on the achievements that began with the pilot project at the Geo Milev Secondary School Varna, implemented by the school team and Prof. Dr. Rumen Stamatov - professor of psychology and head of the Center for Positive Education. In the months after the establishment of the Center, over 600 students, teachers, psychologists, pedagogical advisors, students and lecturers from Tsar Simeon I Primary School, Dobri Chintulov Primary School, Elin Pelin Secondary School, St. Knyaz Boris I Primary School, High School With Foreign Language Education "Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin" Varna, Vasil Levski Primary School (Mizia), Zvanche Kindergarten, Varna Municipal Children's Complex, etc. were trained.
A qualification programme for students, lecturers and employees, dedicated to the paths to achieving success in the academic, personal and social areas, is also being implemented at Varna Free University. During the training in February, the success in studying was examined in the context of the research of Prof. Carl Dweck from Stanford University and the importance of different mental orientations on the attitude towards learning, achievements, failures and mistakes, as well as the motivation to cope with difficulties was examined.
The systematic trainings and discussions held in various educational institutions are part of the efforts to build a supportive environment and implement positive education in Bulgarian schools and kindergartens. Through innovative educational programmes and methods, the center will continue to develop a positive school culture in which students, teachers and parents work together to support individual potential.
