The Career Day 2018 at Varna Free University aroused great interest

More than 30 companies and organizations took part in the Career Day 2018 organized by the Students' Council and the Career Centre of Varna Free University. The event was held with the support of the Education and Youth Activities Directorate of the Municipality of Varna and in partnership with Job Tiger.

 

 

 

The official start of the event was given by the Rector of the Varna Free University, Prof. Galya Gercheva, D.Sc. who thanked the companies for their interest in the career exhibition, the Municipality of Varna and JobTiger for the support, the Students' Council and the University Career Centre for the wonderful work on the organization of the Career Day.

 

 

The Director of the Education and Youth Activities Directorate at the Municipality of Varna, Mrs Lilia Hristova, gave her greetings to the participants. She pointed out that the event will contribute to the development of higher education and its relationship with business, which has been discussed for years. Today's Career Day is further proof of the real prospects and actions that this can happen. Mrs Hristova wished the students to find the job they dreamed about in order to make full use of the knowledge and skills gained at the university.

 

 

I am very excited this year to see so many companies and so many people here at the university, said Svetlozar Petrov, manager of JobTiger, at the opening of the career fair. He thanked the university for its good organization and a successful long-standing partnership.

 

 

 

The participants in the exhibition are representatives of various areas of activity such as employee selection and employment, education, vocational training and qualification, finance, IT, tourism, advertising and design, event organization, construction, trade, real estate and various types of services.

 

 

 

 

Immediately before the opening of the exhibition, the academic management of the university met with representatives of the exhibiting companies.

 

 

 

The meeting was attended by the Rector of Varna Free University Prof. Galya Gercheva,D.Sc., theVice–Rector for Scientific Research  - Prof. Pavel Pavlov, PhD, theVice–Rector for Educational Affairs - Prof. Valeri Stoyanov, PhD andthe Vice-Rector for International Affairs,Projects and Technological DevelopmentProf. Teodora Bakardzhieva, PhD.

 

 

 

The manager of JobTiger Svetlozar Petrov defined the career exhibition as positive for the business which needs to meet education.

 

Radoslav Petrov, a representative of Adecco Bulgaria and a graduate of Varna Free University, expressed his support for the active linking of business and education.

 

We expect to meet enthusiastic young people, said Zhaneta Dimova from Adastra Bulgaria. 

 

Katerina Genova, a junior expert in the Intermediary Services Department of the Labour Office Directorate - Varna, also one of the graduates of Varna Free University who participated in the meeting, said that the Employment Agency is directing its efforts to motivate young people to register in labour offices to make a smooth transition from education to employment.

 

Kristina Ilieva from the Taxback Group defined the career exhibition as a good platform for the exchange of ideas and good practices .

 

The purpose of Postbank is to present the advantages of its internship programmes, said Kalina Baleva – manager of Key Clients and Experts. She also pointed out that one of the managers of the bank - a graduate of Varna Free University, has started work exactly in the framework of such an internship programme.

 

Opportunities for internships and positions for creative people is the proposal of Siana Georgieva - Manager of Bonbon Studio and architecture graduate.

 

Working with the team of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" is pleasure and challenge, commented Milena Georgieva, manager of New Way Advertising Agency, the agency working on the university's advertising materials. According to her, however, there is still no match between the expectations of the business and the training of young people at the start of their professional career.

I welcome the rapprochement between business and education, said Petar Proikov from the Teach for Bulgaria Foundation.

It is important for us to attract people who want to learn and develop, and I hope this event will provide us with this opportunity, said Zhenya Petrova, Head of Human Resources at iCard.

At the end of the meeting, representatives of education and business promised to make such meetings a tradition and the interaction between the two parties in the process of development and realization in the labour market to be implemented in practice with common efforts.
