The student team "Black Window" of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" is in the TOP 3 of the tenth edition of the prestigious Innovation Academy 2023! The event, which featured 50 student teams from across the country, was organized by Innovation Starter.
The students Dorothea Nikolaeva, Tsvetan Mitev and Kalina Peteva presented an innovative eco idea for the urban environment. The graduates of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" offered a range of ecological panels combining moss and mycelium, from which façade and walls panels for public places - bus stops, parks, etc., as well as roof and interior panels can be made. Innovative devices filter and purify the air and absorb moisture from the atmosphere.
Yesterday, during the finals in Sofia Tech Park, the team of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" presented within 6 minutes a business plan for the development of the production.
A day earlier, the authoritative 26-member jury of representatives of the European Investment Fund, the European Commission, the Stock Exchange, scientists from leading Bulgarian universities, including the dean of the Faculty of International Economics and Administration - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eleonora Tankova, as well and representatives of some of the largest Bulgarian companies, selected 10 teams from various universities in the country to participate in the final.
Dorothea and Tsvetan are fifth- and fourth-year students in Architecture and Kalina is a fourth-year student majoring in International Business in English. All three are members of the Student Council at VFU ""Chernorizets Hrabar".
Innovation Academy is the largest public-private educational partnership in the country among organizations from the private, academic, public and NGO sectors. The project is dedicated to the development of entrepreneurial skills of students and the financing of their first business ideas. In 2023, it will be realized for the tenth consecutive year in the form of a hackathon, in which Bulgarian students develop their first business projects and create prototypes of their ideas.
