The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Bulgaria Victor Temirbayev visited Varna Free University and was welcomed by the president of the university Prof. Dr. Krasimir Nedyalkov and the academic management. During the visit, the diplomat learned about the history and results of the partnership between Varna Free University and universities in Kazakhstan. He expressed a desire to expand and deepen the contacts between VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" and Kazakhstan's higher educational institutions.
Later His Excellency Temirbayev also met with Kazakh students from various universities studying in Varna.
Varna Free University has many years of experience, traditions and significant achievements in the field of education and partnership with Kazakh educational institutions. 30 years ago, in the first years of the university's establishment, 50 bachelors from Kazakhstan trusted VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", and subsequently they also completed a master's degree. In the last 10 years, more than 40 Kazakhs chose Varna Free University for their doctoral degree, and two people were awarded the PhD degree. Among them is Akltai Kasimov - an established scholar in the field of law and a long-time president of a district court, who since 2015 has been a judge in the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan in civil and administrative cases. At the moment, 18 PhD students from Kazakhstan are enrolled in Varna Free University. The young scientists study in the professional fields Law, Economics and Administration and Management. Training was also held for two winners of the prestigious international presidential scholarship "Bolashak", as well as teachers from the International Tarazki Innovation Institute under the programme 'Leadership in the Management of Higher Education' in the department of Economics at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar".
Professor D.Sc. Anna Nedyalkova - Chairperson of the University's Board of Trustees, was awarded the title "Doctor Honoris Causa" of the Central Asian Innovation University in the Republic of Kazakhstan for her outstanding scientific achievements in 2021, and a year later the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Bulgaria, Temirtai Izbastin, was awarded the title "Doctor Honoris Causa" of Varna Free University for his contribution to the internationalization of the educational and research activities of the university and for his support for the cooperation between the academic institutions of Bulgaria and Kazakhstan.
