The Rector of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" Prof. Dr. Petar Hristov, Prof. Dr. Galina Shamonina - Secretary General of the University and Prof. Dr. Pavel Pavlov - Head of the Institute for Doctoral Studies were among the official guests at the opening of an exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary from the Battle for Moscow.
The rich exposition of archival photographs and materials is arranged at the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Varna in honour of the event that reversed the course of the military operations during World War II. The author of the exhibition is the historian from Varna Valentin Sabkov.
The Consul General Vladimir Klimanov addressed the guests with welcoming words. Captain Vadim Bazhanov - military, air and naval attache at the Russian Embassy in Bulgaria discussed some historical facts. The event was attended by the Consul General of Russia in Ruse Andrey Gromov, the Regional Governor of Silistra Eli Todorova, representatives of the Municipality of Varna, the Varna and Veliko Preslav bishopric, schools, museums, media, cultural and public organizations, as well as war veterans.
Among the most interesting materials was the information about the participation of Bulgarian volunteers - soldiers and officers in the battles for Moscow. The guests also got acquainted with the exhibition from the Central Museum of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, which is dedicated to the military commanders in the Battle for Moscow.
