From 2 to 11 May Pazardzhik hosted the National Holidays of Professional Folk Art. This is the seventh edition of the cultural forum, which takes place every 4 years - a period in which professional ensembles update their full repertoire.

The event is the largest forum for professional music and dance folklore art. It includes all the professional folk ensembles in the country.

For the third time, the three academic ensembles of the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv, the Southwest University in Blagoevgrad and Varna Free University took part. The artists from the Chernorizets Hrabar Academic Dance Theatre presented on the stage in Pazardzhik the music and dance performance "From the Soul the Dance Springs", in which students from the National School of Arts "Dobri Hristov" – Varna also participated.

Well-established musical and dance works were presented in a new way in a striking performance with vision and idea, shared his impressions of the participation of Varna's dancers Lyubcho Vasilev.

A very strong programme, presented by Varna Free University, which is in no way inferior to that of the professional folklore ensembles, commented Atanas Cholakov, director of the Professional Folklore Ensemble "Pazardzhik", part of the organizing team. According to him, the folklore ensembles, albeit without official status, are the only cultural institutes that popularize the traditional Bulgarian folklore culture. He also thanked for the participation of the Academic Dance Theatre of Varna Free University in the festive concert of the Municipality of Pazardzhik.

The Union of Bulgarian Music and Dance Practitioners also scheduled a special conference for October in which experts and artistic leaders will discuss the current issues of the performing folk art.
