Take part in the Largest Educational GIS Competition in Our Country!

25 September 2024

To the attention all lecturers, university and PhD students! Until October 10, 2024, you can register for participation in the largest educational GIS competition in our country - 'Learning the World with GIS'. It is organized by Esri Bulgaria under the patronage of the Ministry of Education and Science and in partnership with over 30 leading academic, industry and media organizations. Varna Free University is a partner of the event.

Get involved with your own project created using ArcGIS Online's intuitive applications. No previous experience or in-depth knowledge is needed to easily and skillfully use Esri's GIS toolkit. Simply choose a topic that is meaningful or interesting to you and present it through a compelling storymap (digital story) or other GIS projects. You must include at least one 2D or 3D web map. Using more than one Esri GIS application is considered an advantage. If you have not worked with ArcGIS Online before, you can borrow ideas and guidance from the instructions and materials that you will find on the competition webpage.

The topics of the competition projects can be very diverse: from education, history and science, through ecology and nature conservation, to tourism, social commitment and many others. Competition projects should be submitted by October 31, 2024 to schools@esribulgaria.com. They will be judged by a highly expert jury. For the winners of all categories, many cash and material prizes, specialized trainings, etc. are provided.

All GIS projects that meet the requirements of the competition will also be included in a virtual exhibition on the occasion of the 25th World Day of Geographic Information Systems in our country - the largest event in this field, which will be held on November 20, 2024.

Find out more and sign up today on the Learning the World with GIS page.
