STUDENTS OF VFU “CHERNORIZETS HRABAR” - ACTIVE AND SATISFIED BY THE TRAINING IN THE CLOUD

Within days of the announcement of the state of emergency, Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” started a fully online learning process. 335 courses have been created in various specialties and disciplines, held in 813 virtual classrooms.
The courses provide students with the materials they need to independently prepare and control their knowledge, and the classes in the virtual classrooms allow them to synchronize video communication with the lecturers, in the full scope of the academic workload.
During the first week of the ONLINE training, the system has been used by our students throughout Bulgaria, as well as in 14 other countries - Ukraine, Turkey, Belgium, Romania, USA, England, Germany, Canada, Austria, Russia, Greece, Norway, Netherlands, France.
The students are extremely active and are satisfied with the fact that they have not missed a single day, that they have no missed classes and that they are studying at a university with high technological security. Moreover, both lecturers and students would like to retain elements of the online learning after returning to the classrooms at the university building.
But how did our students “get” to the virtual audiences and what is their view of learning in the cloud?
Iva Virovska, 2nd year student of Law, part-time study:
"The new mode of training is extremely practical for all of us. Links to virtual classrooms are published directly on the curriculum. The access to the lecturers is extremely easy. The students who are nervous to talk to the lecturers are spared the embarrassment now.
Yana Stoyanova, 1st year student of International Business:
"I found the 'path' to the virtual audience extremely easy with the profile that the university had already created for us. I added all the course codes for my specialty. It is also important to me that I do not waste time traveling. " Yana does not hide that she lacks the contact with her fellow students, but on the other hand, she already feels the advantage of concentrating easily on the material.
Antonia Gyuzeleva, Law student:
"Thanks for the speed with which Varna Free University organized the virtual lectures. The format is extremely convenient for me - as a mother and a working woman!"
"Everything is going smoothly for the moment," the student Kalina Peteva commented and added that the most important thing for her is that the communication with the lecturers is very good - "they are within a click".
We are responsible to our international students, including incoming Erasmus students. We work with them personally, they are provided with information in a foreign language, they are assisted. Each of them is involved in online training.
