PROF. YONKO KUNCHEV, D.SC. BECAME HONORARY PROFESSOR OF VFU “CHERNORIZETS HRABAR”

By decision of the Academic Council of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar", the title of Honorary Professor of VFU “Chernorizets Hrabar” was conferred on Prof. Yonko Kunchev, D.Sc. - Dean of the Faculty of Law. The honour was presented by the rector, Prof. Petar Hristov, PhD and the vice-president, Yani Yanev, for the significant contribution to the development of VFU “Chernorizets Hrabar”, for the promotion and strengthening of the image of the university.
Prof. Yonko Kunchev is a doctor of law with a specialty in Criminal process, judicial administration, prosecutorial supervision and forensics; he is a doctor of legal sciences and professor of forensics. He has an extremely rich professional career and scientific activity. He began his professional career as an inspector in the criminal police, after which he was a research assistant at the Research Institute of Criminalistics and Criminology at the Ministry of the Interior. Prof. Kunchev has held numerous leadership positions, including head of various sections in the Ministry of the Interior and rector of the Higher Institute of the Ministry of the Interior. He is a member of the Sofia Bar Association.
Since 2010, he has been a professor of forensic science at VFU “Chernorizets Hrabar “ and head of several master's degree programmes. Since November 2019, he has been the dean of the Faculty of Law at Varna Free University.
Prof. Kunchev has over 100 scientific publications, including monographs and textbooks; he actively participates in national and international conferences. He plans to publish his new scientific work soon and dreams of writing a work of fiction in the future.
Prof. Kunchev is an inspiration to his students with his knowledge, experience and dedication to legal science.
