The Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" Prof. D.Sc. Anna Nedyalkova was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of the Central Asian Innovation University of Kazakhstan. The award was presented personally by His Excellency Temirtay Izbastin - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Bulgaria, during his visit to Varna Free University. Ambassador Izbastin was accompanied by the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Varna, Milen Raykov. The Central Asian Innovation University, located in the third largest city of Shymkent, awarded Prof. Nedyalkova for outstanding achievements in the field of science.
The academic management of Varna Free University presented a golden plaque with the face of Chernorizets Hrabar to Ambassador Izbastin. The diplomat was familiar with the university's long-standing traditions in training university and doctoral students from Kazakhstan. "Varna Free University works with a number of higher schools in the Asian country, among which are the Turan Universities in Astana and Almaty, and the International Taraz Innovative Institute", said the rector Prof. Dr. Petar Hristov. "30 years ago, in the first years of the university's establishment, 50 bachelors from Kazakhstan trusted VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", and later they also completed their master's degree here", said Prof. Nedyalkova. In the past eight years, over 40 Kazakhs have chosen Varna Free University for their doctorate degree, and two have defended their doctorate degrees. Among them is Akltai Kasimov - an established scholar in the field of law and a long-time president of a district court, who since 2015 has been a judge in the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan in civil and administrative cases.
At the moment, 18 doctoral students from Kazakhstan are enrolled in Varna Free University. The young scientists are in the professional fields of Law, Economics and Administration and Management. Two recipients of the prestigious international presidential scholarship "Bolashak" are also being trained, as well as teachers from the International Taraz Innovation Institute under the "Leadership in Higher Education Management" programme at the Economics Department at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar".
Issues related to future joint work in science, education and culture, as well as opportunities for partnership with business from both countries were discussed during the meeting.
