"Nice Places in Varna" is an exhibition of students majoring in Graphic Design at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar", which will be opened in Gallery 12 of the Regional Administration - Varna (26 "Preslav" Street), on Monday – 13 May 2024, at 5.00 p.m.
In the exhibition, we will see over 40 drawings by 15 students - young authors who recreate the urban environment, as a cultural centre and habitable place - seen, felt and recreated through their eyes.
Student works were created during their training in Drawing and Perspective course with lecturer Donika Kirova. They rediscover and depict different places in the maritime capital that are not so touristic and emblematic of the city. We will see recreated parts of buildings, small squares, gardens, park environments, streets, sculptures, recreation areas, restaurants, etc. These are places that shape the architectural and social appearance of Varna, carry the spirit of the city or are a source of pleasant emotions - for meetings, solitude, rest, entertainment or simply good views. Rediscovered and transformed, they put together a more subjective but much more interesting vision and express to a large extent the demands and attitudes of young people towards the urban environment. The drawings stimulate the observation, familiarization and preservation of the city and its sites, as well as the formation of one's own assessment and aesthetic criteria.
The exhibition is a joint initiative of the Regional Administration - Varna and Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar". The project supports the performances of young people and their inclusion in the cultural and social life of the city, as well as the promotion of the urban life and environment of Varna through its visual interpretation.
