Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" starts with the training of 180 students, lecturers, psychologists and teachers from educational institutions from the municipality of Varna, who work directly with children and young people in an online environment. This will be done under the Knights in Cyber Space project, which is implemented at the beginning of the new school year with the financial support of the Municipality of Varna, Directorate of Education and Youth Activities.
The event was opened today in the Youth Center by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eleonora Tankova - Deputy Rector of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" and Ivan Portnih - Mayor of the Municipality of Varna. Special demonstrations of the most common hacker attacks and gadgets were made by the national expert on cyber security and ethical hacking Simeon Nguyen (what he said - watch the video). His presentation provoked great interest in the audience and the media.
Digital identity is under serious threat not only for business structures and organizations, but also for each one of us, said Assoc. Prof. Tankova. She added that it is important to know not what would happen if we experience an attack, but how to act when it happens. The vice-rector highlighted the experience and potential of the university in training students in the master's degree programmes Cybersecurity, Software Engineering and Management, Data Science, Digital Marketing and Web Dsign, as well as in projects and courses for training teachers and students in cybersecurity.
The Mayor of Varna expressed his gratitude to Varna Free University for organizing and carrying out the initiative, as well as for the joint work. "Varna is proud of its academic potential and we must look for all possible ways to use this wealth. I believe that we will help children and young people to benefit safely from digitalization."
