The long-awaited first volume of "Criminalistics Course" by Prof. Yonko Kunchev, D. Sc. was published. Prof. Yonko Kunchev, D. Sc. is Dean of the Faculty of Law at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" and Head of the master’s degree programme in Forensic Expertise at the University. The course is designed in 4 volumes; each of them has a separate subject in different fields of criminalistics. The first volume deals with the historical and theoretical foundations of criminalistics. The practical function of criminalistics - to scientifically assist in the discovery of objective truth in the criminal process in accordance with its subject, is analyzed. The book is intended for the pre-trial legal proceedings, the court, the specialists in the field of forensic expertise, the students of Law, Crime Counteraction And Protection of Public Order (module"Criminalistics") and the students from the master's degree programme in Forensic Expertise at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", as well as anyone with a deeper interest in criminalistics.
The book fills a significant gap not only in criminalistics theory but also in the training in criminalistics. Students from the Faculty of Law at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" will now have a textbook on one of the studied subjects in the module "Criminalistics" - General Theory of Criminalistics. Through his books, the criminalistics offices created with his active participation, as well as through his rich practical, research and teaching experience, Prof. Yonko Kunchev, D.Sc. made a significant contribution to raising the level of criminalistics training of the students at the Faculty of Law at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar".
