On December 11th,
guests in the programme 'New Horizons with Lily' were Assoc. Prof. Eleonora Tankova, PhD, Vice-Rector of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" and Larry Beale - a financier from California.
In the first part of the programme, Assoc. Prof. Tankova talked about the new Center for Positive Education at Varna Free University, established in 2024. It will be useful to teachers, educators, parents and students, so that "education can bring happiness, well-being and success," said the guest.
Preparation for the establishment of the Center dates several years back. Such centers already exist in countries such as Australia, Canada and the USA. The idea is based on 'positive psychology', as 'positive education' does not contradict the traditional one, but builds on and works in synergy with it. The results will be reported in 4 years, and seminars and lectures have already been planned for 2025. The programme is also supported by the Municipality of Varna and the Regional Department of Education in Varna.
In the second part of the programme, the traditional telephone connection was made with Mr. Larry Beale, a financier from California. He presented an interesting material on the topic 'What skills should we look for in students?', in which he shared the following: “We need schools that awaken desire and passion. Teamwork is essential, as well as training based on projects that can be implemented in real life. Yes - we want a society run by people who are smart, but also curious, caring, and dedicated to the common good.”
