STUDENTS AND LECTURERS OF VFU “CHERNORIZETS HRABAR” READ FAVOURITE TEXTS IN THREE LANGUAGES IN THE READING PEOPLE MARATHON

Students, lecturers and administrative staff at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” read favourite texts in three languages - Bulgarian, Russian and English. They joined the traditional Reading People Marathon on 23 April, the World Book and Copyright Day. The event was organized by the Department of Foreign Language Teaching and Postgraduate Qualification, the University Library and the Russian Centre at VFU “Chernorizets Hrabar”. This year the marathon was held at the university's virtual classrooms.

Prof. Lazar Gruev, PhD is a Constitutional Judge from 2003 to 2007 and President of the Supreme Court of Cassation from 2007 to 2014. For five years he has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Law at Varna Free University. In his public defence, he presented the highlights and main points of his work to an audience of more than 40 people - a jury, lecturers from VFU “Chernorizets Hrabar”, many lawyers and guests. The defence of the doctoral dissertation brought together the most prominent Bulgarian scholars in the field of criminal law.

THE RUSSIAN CENTER AT VARNA FREE UNIVERSITY CELEBRATED THE INTERNATIONAL THE WORLD Aviation and Cosmonautics Day

The Russian Center of Varna Free University celebrated the International Aviation and Cosmonautics Day on April 12 with virtual classes for school and university students. The experts from the center invited the students who study Russian from Nayden Gerov Secondary School into the virtual classroom and told them about the achievements in space. The classes were very interesting for them, and the students prepared drawings on the topic of space. The virtual lesson aimed at introducing the young people to the history of the conquest of the space and the first squad of astronauts, led by Yuri Gagarin, to develop the cognitive and creative activity of the participants and to enrich their knowledge in Russian.

Students from the Master's degree programme in Financial and Bank Management and Marketing at Varna Free University started their studies in the "cloud", said the programme manager Assoc. Prof. Dr. Virginia Ivanova. "Master's students have successfully tackled the challenge of working and learning in a digital environment. For three weeks, they have been in virtual classrooms, making presentations, doing course assignments, using case studies. They all express their satisfaction that the university has created a suitable learning environment and continue with their studies regardless of the current situation in the country and the world. The training united them and gave them additional skills to work in digital environment," commented Assoc. Prof. Ivanova.

MASTER’S DEGREE STUDENTS MAJORING IN CIRCULAR ECONOMY ARE PREPARING THEIR DIPLOMA THESES

The second stage in the defense of the diploma projects of the students from the Master's degree programme in "Circular Economy" of Varna Free University is being prepared. The Master's theses are expected with great interest, provoked by the high value of the solutions offered during the first session in the field of circular economy in November last year. "Models and concepts of high scientific and applied value were shown. The developments have shown that the concept of circular economy provides us with tools to support ecosystems and puts consumption in unison with terrestrial regenerative capacity," commented Prof. Emil Panushev - Head of the Master's degree programme.
