"7 DAYS OF ART AND DESIGN" STARTED AT VARNA FREE UNIVERSITY

The Art and Design Week started at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" today. It will continue until June 20, 2021. The aevent is organized by the Department of Arts and is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the university. Anyone who wants to enrich their knowledge and skills - students, people with an interest in the arts and a talent for the exquisite and beautiful are welcome to join the event.
 
The event was opened today with a performance given by the University's Academic Dance Theater. In the presence of students, faculty, staff and guests of the university, the university management congratulated the Faculty of Architecture and the Department of Arts for the initiative. "I suggest that it grow into 365 days of art at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", said the vice-rector Prof. D.Sc. Dimitar Kanev.
"The university is not only a platform for education but also a place for shared emotions, creativity and success. Congratulations to the students who share with us their wonderful projects", added Prof. Dr. Galina Shamonina - Secretary General of the University.
During the past year we had the opportunity to look inside ourselves, to explore creativity, to create new ideas and projects, commented Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kapka Manasieva - Head of the Department of Arts.
For seven days seminars, workshops, training courses, workshops and a fashion show will be held on the university campus and online, showcasing the talent of students in the fields of design, fashion and dance. The training and creative forums will be taught by renowned practitioners, as well as established teachers in the field of arts.




The annual fashion show of the students majoring in Fashion Design is expected with special interest, which this year will tell stories about beauty and traditions. For the first time, the experimental ideas of the young designers from VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" will be presented on the same stage with authentic folk costumes. They will combine the temperament of the new time with the aesthetics and dexterity of the old Bulgarian masters of folk crafts. Students from the Vocational High School of Textile and Fashion Design and the National High School of Humanities and Arts "Konstantin Preslavski" - Varna, with which the Department of Arts has a long-term partnership, will actively participate in the presentation of the annual production of students. Students from the leading Varna schools will do the makeup and hairstyles for the different fashion images and will show their projects that were presented at the National Fashion Design Competition. The dancers from the High School of Humanities will present the unique works of the students.
 
An exhibition consisting of 26 wall panels prepared by students majoring in Fashion Design, Interior Design and Graphic Design will be on display at the university. Projects on pattern of fabric, clothes or accessories interpreting a painting will be presented. The exposition was selected by Dr. Donika Kirova.
 
The exhibition "The Beginning", presenting the best student diploma projects in Fashion Design by students from the first classes of the university will be arranged in the University Library.
 
The leading world famous Bulgarian fashion designer Ivan Donev will teach a master class on creating haute couture on June 19 and 20. For years, his designs have a reserved place on the world catwalk. Within two days he will reveal the secrets of inspiration, the subtleties of design and handmade clothing.
 
Dr. Alexander Gerginov, who combines fashion design with contemporary art with the job of a teacher, will speak about the trends in world fashion illustration. He works for various brands and mentors young artists.
 
“Why and who needs an Oscar?” is the topic of the lecture of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lisa Boeva ​​- film director and lecturer in art history. Statistics show that in the last few years the interest in the "Oscars" has been decreasing. What lies behind the most famous film award - we will find out on June 14.
 
From June 12 to 19, the university will also hold a qualification course for directors of dance and vocal ensembles for authentic folklore. Within a week they will gain knowledge and skills in the organization of the rehearsal activity of the ensemble, the requirements related to the stylistic features of the local folklore and the skills in the stage adaptation of the folklore material. Traditional rites and customs will be recreated.
 
A special place in "7 Days of Art and Design" have the graduates of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" who have already realized themselves in the field of art:
 
Workshop "Painted Silk" will be taught by Iva Pencheva. She is a graduate of Varna Free University, an artist and designer, a person who has been developing the School of Applied Arts for 15 years and supports the development of creativity by participating in "7 days of art and design".
 
In the Workshop "Floral Design, Head Accessories" we will see as a lecturer and presenter Ivelina Ivanova - from the first class of "Artistic Textiles" at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", Master of "Fashion and Fashion Management" and lecturer. She is a successful artist and manager.
 
Workshop "Floral design, home accessories" will be taught by the florist-designer Marina Rakova. She will demonstrate colour arrangements and colour design for the home.
 
The discussion "Education and careers in the arts" with Assoc. Prof. Kapka Manasieva is dedicated to the professional orientation of young people. In the online panel we will find out about the connection of the creative industries with the various scientific fields.
The most creative participants in another interdisciplinary event of VFU "DNA Day" will be awarded.
