The open course in Climate Changes and the Green Transition was held yesterday at Varna Free University and provoked huge interest. Rumen Pehlivanov, PhD - Mayor of Rudozem Municipality, who last year defended Bulgaria's first educational and scientific degree "Doctor" in the field of the circular economy, a delegate from Bulgaria to the Committee of the Regions based in Brussels and a full member (with right to vote) in the Monitoring Committee in the INTERREG VI-A Greece-Bulgaria 2021-2027 programme and Assoc. Prof. Ivanka Bankova, PhD - a long-time lecturer at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" with scientific interests in the field of environmental protection, environmental management and sustainable territorial development were the speakers.
The green deal and Bulgaria's position on it - this was the case that future European leaders had to solve during #ConSIMium - a simulation of the work of the Council of the European Union. 200 students from all EU member states participated in the simulation. Gergana Atanasova - 3rd year student majoring in Law and Alessandro Tankis - 2nd year student majoring in International Business at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" were part of the Bulgarian team.

The third edition of the course Profiling of Unknown Perpetrators of Crimes (Forensic and Psychological Aspects)" organized by the Faculty of Law at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" provoked huge interest. More than 200 people from Bulgaria, Great Britain, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Greece, Cyprus, Denmark, United Arab Emirates took part in the training. Participants in the course were specialists from various professional fields - legal practitioners, psychologists, linguists, national security specialists, teachers, doctors, economists, IT specialists, investigative police officers, operatives, lawyers, assistant prosecutors, experts, legal consultants, civil servants, social workers, representatives of private business, psychotherapists, doctors and nurses, as well as fans of forensic science and criminal psychology. Six Bulgarian students, including Gergana Atanasova and Alessandro Tankis from Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar", brilliantly represented our country in Brussels a few days ago. They participated in the #ConSIMium simulation organized by the Council of the European Union and managed to achieve a "change" in the final text of the document concerning the reduction of carbon emissions in the field of transport.

Varna Free University is the first higher education institution in Bulgaria certified according to ISO 14001:2015 for environmental protection. The certificate was issued by TÜV Rheinland Bulgaria and is valid for three years. The procedure is part of the project Knowing the Circular Economy in the Black Sea Basin BSB-CIRCLECON - BSB 1021, financed under the joint operational programme for cross-border cooperation under the European Neighborhood Instrument "Black Sea Basin 2014-2020".
Over 350 architects and university students from all over the country participated in the courses organized by Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" under the project "Alliance for Adaptation of Bulgarian Architects to the German Market for Architectural Services", co-financed by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union and with partners Foundation "Institute for Digital Transformations" and the Munich architecture company ST Architekten GmbH.
