26 companies from the construction and machine building industries, discussed the interface between science and business

26 companies from the construction and machine building industries attended an international meeting – discussion entitled "Modern Engineering - Innovative Industrial Construction and Machine Building", organized by Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" in partnership with the European Industrial Cluster. The meeting is part of the European Cluster Collaboration Weeks.


The event was opened by the President of Varna Free University Assoc. Prof. Krasimir Nedyalkov. Special guest was the Honorary Consul of Italy to Varna and Burgas - Mr Antonio Tarquinio. The round table discussion was attended by students and lecturers from the Department of Construction of Buildings and Structures at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", representatives of leading companies from the construction and machine building industries in north-east Bulgaria, as well as members of the clusters Bultehnoplast and the Black Sea Energy Cluster.



The potential of modern science and the growing synthesis of education, science and industry were commented. The innovative master’degree programmes of the university were presented – Sustainable Urban Development, Digital Construction, Entrepreneurship, Circular Economy, Cyber ​​Security and Intelligent Security Systems and Data Science, which are part of the new project "Alliance 4.0" - "Digital Education for Economic Growth and Social Inclusion".



Topics related to cluster philosophy, value of knowledge, funding, dynamic technological development, high competition and globalization were discussed. The importance of cooperation between universities and industry is to find new common ground, as well as to study specific problems and tasks related to practice.
A demonstration of reinforced glass fittings, transparent concrete, and innovative wood and textile blends have been made to enhance the fire safety properties of materials. Innovations have been developed by Bulgarian companies and are already available on the global market.
