190 YEARS SINCE THE BIRTH OF COUNT NIKOLAY IGNATIEV AND THE DIPLOMATIC WORKER'S DAY WERE CELEBRATED TODAY

The 190th anniversary of the birth of Count Nikolay Ignatiev and the Day of the Russian Diplomatic Worker were celebrated today at a solemn ceremony.
On behalf of the academic management of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" flowers were put by Prof. Dr. Galina Shamonina - Secretary General of the University and Head of the Russian Center at the monument of Count Nikolay Ignatiev.
Wreaths and flowers were put at the monument of the world-famous diplomat by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation Her Excellency Eleonora Mitrofanova, the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Varna Vladimir Klimanov, the Mayor of Varna Ivan Portnih, the Chairperson of the Municipal Council - Varna Todor Balabanov, chairpeople of judicial institutions in the city, representatives of the Navy, regional administrations, the Varna and Veliko Preslav bishopricс, NGOs.
Count Nikolay Ignatiev was declared a knight of the Balkans. He was the person who signed the peace treaty in San Stefano which declared the freedom of Bulgaria.
