Specific admission requirements: Candidates need to be Bachelor or Master Degree holders in civil engineering and have an average Bachelor diploma grade point no lower than Good according to the Bulgarian assessment scale. Candidates go for an interview.
Specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning:
Qualification requirements and regulations, including graduation requirements: To acquire a degree of "Master" 90 credits are required of which 64.5 credits from compulsory courses, 7.5 credits of electives, 93 credits of optional courses and 15 credits of diploma project defence.
Profile of the programme: The programme "Road Construction" aims to train specialists with extensive theoretical knowledge and practical experience in design, construction, operability and maintenance of road facilities, studying the latest methods and technologies in the field of Road Engineering, as well as the modern concepts for the construction business. This goal is achieved because the training is according to a curriculum that reflects the experience of leading universities in the country and abroad, and follows the latest trends in the training of road construction engineering. The selection of courses carries out the idea of widespread knowledge among the engineers in Road Construction. Students acquire knowledge in methodology of design according to the latest national and European regulations for application of specific program software for design of roads road facilities.
The Master programme "Road Construction" has a national accreditation. Graduates can obtain a license in accordance with the requirements of the Chamber of engineers in the investment design.

* In Varna Free University, a credit equals 30 lessons, of which 10 contact hours (lectures and seminars) and 20 hours independent work.
Mode of study: full-time, part-time/
Examination regulations and grading scale: the specialty curriculum includes courses from different scientific fields, which fulfils the requirement of interdisciplinary and wide spectrum training. This defines the various requirements extremes in assessing students' knowledge. Detailed description of methods and evaluation criteria for each discipline and the opportunity to inform the reasons for evaluation are detailed in the syllabi.
Obligatory or optional mobility windows: Students can take part in appropriate programs for student's mobility available in Varna Free University.
Work-based learning: In the curriculum of the Master's programme in all special subjects the developing of course projects and tasks is provided. The topics of the course projects, as well as these of the diploma thesis are taken from the actual construction activity. Many of the developments are later implemented in practice.
Occupational profiles of graduates: Graduates in Master Programme "Road Construction" can be employed in the public and/or private sector as:
- Design specialists, investors and executives in the field of Road Construction, building of urban communications, facilities, etc.
- Employees and experts in investment, control and supervisory services;
- Lecturers in Universities and Colleges, research associates in scientific institutions.
Access to further studies: Each student, successfully completed training with the degree of "Master" has the necessary skills to continue his/her education at a higher level of qualification - degree "Doctor" with the appropriate programs:
-Building Constructions;
-Building Materials, Products and Technology of Their Production;
-The Technique of Labor Safety and Fire Safety.
