Specific admission requirements:
Secondary or higher education, successfully passed entrance examination. For entrance exam scores are recognized by the state matriculation exams and the results of international certificates for language and computer skills. Specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning:
The ECTS coordinator of the Department of Administration, Management and Political Science, Assist. Prof. Pavlina Yamukova, PhD, (e-mail:pavlina.yamukova@vfu.bg, p_yamukova@abv.bg), provides initial information and guidelines for the existing possibilities for recognition and awarding of credits from prior learning.
Procedures:
- Recognition of knowledge and skills based on submitted documents: transcript or diploma from prior learning; international diplomas and certificates in a foreign language (English Cambridge FCE, TOEFEL; German - Zertifikat Deutsch, Sprahdiplom, Zweite Stufe; Russian - TRKI, French - DELF; Spanish - DELE); international diplomas and certificates for computer skills meet the ECDL (The European Computer Driving Licence).
- Certification of knowledge and skills by passing examinations at VSU "Free University" by: Foreign Language Department of language training; computer skills at the Department "Informatics and economy"; specific professional field knowledge and skills at the Department "Administration, management and political science": for part-time students (active employees in state administration) - practical training and internship and courses whose educational content directly corresponds to the performance of their obligations.
- Awarding credits: The department awards adequate for curriculum credits, based on the results of certification of knowledge and skills.
Qualification requirements and regulations, including graduation equirements*:
To acquire the qualifications required 240 credits, 176 credits from compulsory courses, 36 credits from elective courses, 15 credits of optional courses, 3 credits from educational training and internship and 10 credits for state examination (thesis defense).
Profile of the programme:
Training in "International Public and Business Management" is based on the following basic scientific fields: law, management, economics, political science, sociology. It aims to prepare qualified specialists and experts in Public and Business Administration and Management to work competently and fairly responsible positions in public and business administration in a changing socio-political and economic environment in the European Union and the world. They should have general theoretical knowledge and practical skills: decision support for the formation of innovative public policy and business organizations, timely and qualitative study of consumer demand, capacity building for the implementation of corporate strategies at national and international level. Effectively support the organs of state and local government and the holding of national and local politics; timely and quality delivery of public services to citizens and businesses based on European norms and standards for good governance; capacity building for full inclusion of Bulgarian administration to European administrative space, as well as the effective absorption of EU funds.
Programme learning outcomes:
As a result of training students should possess and demonstrate specific theoretical knowledge and understanding of:
- role and place of organization including international in contemporary global society;
- basic governance structures of organizations, businesses and modern forms of interaction between them with regard to Bulgarian, European and world practice;
- transnational companies, the forms in which they exist, their mergers and acquisitions;
- principles, challenges and forms for successful realization of the objectives in the field of international entrepreneurship;
- Bulgarian and European institutional, administrative and legal system;
- the role and place of the administration in the public sector and its interaction with civil society and business;
- principles, challenges and forms for successful realization of the objectives in the field of public administration and local government;
- interpretation and application of European and Bulgarian legislation concerning the management, policies and practices in the public sector;
- strategic and tactical management in the public sphere, as well as common approaches, methods and technologies for its practical implementation in various sectors of government, local government and civil society;
- mechanisms for selection, appraisal, staff development and motivation of employees in the new highly professional, depoliticised and mobile administration;
- modern requirements and standards for establishing and shaping the managerial and administrative documentation;
- the main state-legal and political structures of the European Union, European principles and best practices in administrative activities;
- challenges and responsibilities before the Bulgarian administration in line with European criteria and requirements and expectations of Bulgarian society for competent and economical administration.

Examination regulations and grading scale:
The conduct of semester exams, methods and evaluation criteria, as well as an opportunity to inform students about the motives of the evaluation, including current ratings are specific to each discipline and are detailed in the respective curricula. In the majority of curricula is stated that:
- Semester grade is based on an ongoing assessment and evaluation of the final exam, a pre-announced criteria;
- Current assessment is based on team and individual performance to put theoretical and practical tasks (term papers, essays, essays, interim tests, projects, business games, case studies, etc.) And active participation in discussions;
- Final exam is written: developing a topic from the syllabus and / or specify tasks for self and / or solving test with open or closed issues;
- Students have the opportunity to be informed about their assessments and reasons for assessment during lectures and tuition exercises during consultations immediately after the exam, by email, by business and mobile phones, which are available on the website of the university .
Admission to the state exam / thesis defense the students have successfully passed all semester exams curriculum and they awarded 230 credits (176 credits from compulsory courses, 36 credits from elective courses, 15 credits of optional courses, 3 credits from educational training and internship). By thesis defense allowed students with a GPA of semester exams not lower than 5.00.

Successful graduates can work as: Employees and experts in business administrations in the structural units of companies and organizations from the public and private sector agencies, ministries in the country and abroad, experts and heads of sectors, consultants and collaborators; as well as civil servants in the central, devolved and decentralized administration; employees under labor contract (contract) in the central, devolved and local administration; employees in budget organizations for public services - education, health, social welfare, protection of public order; officials in the non-state public bodies (NGOs) - associations, foundations and other organizations for the realization of public objectives; officials in the administration of businesses that are public state or public municipal property and serving the public sector; international officials.
