Major:Interior Design
Professional qualification: Interior Designer
Level of qualification: Educational-and-qualification degree Bachelor
Duration of programme: 4 years / 8 semesters
Number of credits allocated: 240
Field of study (ISCED-F): 0212: Fashion, interior and industrial design
Admissions requirements: to be diploma holders of completed secondary education and to sit an entrance exam
Specific arrangements for recognition of prior studies:
ECTS Coordinator - Desislava Hristova, Arch., tel.: +359 52359579, e-mail: arch@vfu.bg - provides information about the opportunities for recognition of prior education - formal and informal.
Procedure: recognition of credits from academic transcripts of domestic and foreign universities (if the academic transcript is from a foreign university, it must be legalized and translated into the Bulgarian language), foreign language diplomas, computer skills certificates and diplomas.
Requirements and rules for qualification: 240 credits, of which 10 are obtained for successfully defended diploma thesis. The training ends with a diploma thesis defence, but only students who have successfully passed all their exams throughout their course of studies and have defended successfully their semester projects are admitted to defence.
Profile of the major: The main goal of the programme is to prepare professionals in the field of interior and furniture design, and to provide them with the opportunity to pursue career in other present-day fields such as re-design, eco-design, innovative design, etc.
The high quality of education is guaranteed by the involvement of outstanding Bulgarian experts in the field and practicing designers, as well as with the collaboration of experts from Italy, Germany, Spain and the US, with which the university has partnership relations or works jointly on mobility programmes for lecturers and students. The latter may take part of their training modules at partner European universities under the Erasmus programme. The curriculum is flexible and allows adaptation to such practices, given the uniform European credit system in higher education.
Key learning outcomes: The interior designers will be able to design complete interior solutions including furniture configurations, lighting and spatial solutions, exposition and museum design, interior and facade advertisements and others.
The successful graduates receive the qualification "interior designer" with diploma and the special labels for quality and recognition of the education in Europe - ECTS Label and DS Label, which Varna "Chernorizets Hrabar" has been awarded with.
