At the invitation of the Department of Architecture and Urbanism students from five classes of Varna Secondary School of Mathematics "Dr Petar Beron" visited Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" on 11 and 12 December 2012.
For two hours in the two consecutive days, the students visited the facilities of the university: the library, the Institute of Technology, "Maxima" ceremonial hall, the central lobby with the architectural exhibitions, classroom 216 of the Faculty of Architecture with architecture students who were working there, the bookstore, the cafe and the refectory, the educational and sports complex. They met with representatives of the admission centre, the international projects office and were received by the Head of the Department of Architecture and Urbanism at VFU Prof. Rositsa Nikiforova, PhD, Arch.
Arch. Hristo Topchiev introduced the young mathematicians to the opportunities of the latest technologies in the field of architectural design. Each student received information materials of the university.
In the lobby of VFU educational and sports complex with wonderful sea view, over a cup of tea and cakes, schoolchildren talked with students and lecturers, and some of them took a decision for their further education. The conversation between the lecturers referred also to upcoming changes in the laws in the field of education. A split in two stages of the secondary education, where the second one corresponds to "college education" in some countries could open possibilities for closer cooperation between the two educational institutions.
