About VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar"

The Ninth International Qualifications School for young specialists in Russian studies started at Varna Free University


 

On the 21st of August the Ninth International Qualifications School of Modern Pedagogical Technologies in Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language officially started its work in the Russian Centre at Varna Free University.

The Russkiy Mir Foundation once again supported the forum in Varna as one of the most significant events in the field of Russian language learning not only in Bulgaria but also in Europe; a forum aimed at improving the methodological preparation of young people on the threshold of their professional realization as teachers in Russian language. 

This year more than 50 students - specialists in Russian studies from 11 universities in 8 European countries attend the school, the program is extremely rich, the key topic being "Innovative Methods in Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language".

 

 

Students from Belgrade University (Serbia), Budapest University Loránd Eötvös (Hungary), Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” (Bulgaria), Bucharest Economic Academy (Romania), Bucharest University (Romania), Milan State University (Italy), University of Pedagogy (Poland), University of Plovdiv "Paisii Hilendarski" (Bulgaria), Moldavian State University (Moldova), Samtskhe-Javakheti State University (Georgia), Shumen University "Konstantin Preslavski" (Bulgaria) take part in the School.

 

The current scientific program and the leading Russian specialists, whose textbooks the young Russian specialists from all over the world use, determine the invariable interest and the participation of many Bulgarian and foreign students. This year the participants will enjoy lectures and master classes delivered by Prof. Leonid Moskovkin from the Saint Petersburg State University, Prof. Valeri Efremov from Herzen University, Senior lecturer Denis Bukin from the Saint Petersburg State University, Assoc. Prof. Nadya Cherneva from University of Plovdiv "Paisii Hilendarski" and Prof. Galina Shamonina from VFU "Chernizets Hrabar”.

 

 The IX International Qualification School is supported by the Municipality of Varna, the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Varna, the Representation of Rossotrudnichestvo in Bulgaria, the National Publishing House for Education and Science "AzBuki" at the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Bulgarian National Network of Teachers of Russian Language and Culture (BNNTRLC).

 

The Opening of the International Qualification School was performed by the President of Varna Free University Prof. Dr. Anna Nedyalkova. In her address to the guests and participants, she highly praised the "Russkiy Mir" Foundation for the support to the professional development of young people. She said that the School meets the internationalization goals of the university as it collects students from many European countries and teaches them not only methodology but also develops their skills for professional communication and interaction which is of great importance for their future career development.

 

 

 According to her, "when the participants in the school arrive in August, it means it is time to speak Russian at our university." Prof. Nedyalkova said that for its nine years of existence, the School has certified 430 participants who now not only teach in schools and universities in their own countries but have the right and self-confidence to claim their own professional network.

 

The opening ceremony was attended by the academic management of Varna Free University - the Rector - Prof. DSc. Galya Gercheva, the Vice President Mr. Yani Yanev, the Vice Rectors - Prof. Dr. Pavel Pavlov, Prof. Dr. Valery Stoyanov and Prof. Dr. Teodora Bakardjieva.

 The head of the management of Russian centers in the Russkiy Mir Foundation Nikolay Sergeychev, read a greeting address from the Executive Director of the Foundation Vladimir Kochin. Mr. Kochin thanked the academic management and the team of Varna Free University for organizing the forum and stressed that the school had won a good name among a whole generation of specialists in Russian who warmly remembered the unforgettable days of professional communication at the Russian Center of VFU “Chernorizets Hrabar”. The friendly, informal and creative atmosphere that can be felt here makes it easier to acquire knowledge delivered by experienced teachers in the School, says the greeting address.

 

 

 

Nikolay Sergeychev expressed on his behalf and on behalf of everyone working in the Foundation a great gratitude to Prof. DSc. Anna Nedyalkova, President of Varna Free University for her personal co-operation and constant support to this unique for Europe youth forum and wished success, fruitful work and pleasure from the classes in Varna.

 

The first secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bulgaria and a representative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia - Robert Shestakov also attended the opening. The participants were congratulated by the head of the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Bulgaria Pavel Zhuravlev. He said that the focus of the school on the young generation of students - Russian specialists in their last year at university, future Russian teachers in European and Asian countries who will continue the glorious traditions of their predecessors in the dissemination and popularization of Russian language and culture abroad is particularly valuable. "Russian is your competitive advantage! Pride yourself with it and use it!” he added.

 

The official media partner of the School is the National Publishing House for Education and Science "AzBuki" at the Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria. His Director, Ms. Nadia Kanthareva-Baruch, wished the participants success in learning pedagogical skills and invited everyone to share their achievements on the pages of the national newspaper "AzBuki" and the specialized editions.

 

The Russian expert at the Ministry of Education and Science, Dr. Stoyanka Pochekanska, noted the importance of the International Qualification School in the process of transferring experience and good practices in Russian language learning.

 

On behalf of the directors of the secondary Russian language schools in Varna, Ms. Albena Pavlova, director of Geo Milev School invited young specialists in Russian to realize their creative ideas at school.

 A greeting address was also received on behalf of Ms. Lilia Hristova, Director of the Education and Youth Activities Directorate at Varna Municipality.

 

In his welcoming speech on the occasion of the opening of the forum on behalf of lecturers Prof. Leonid Moskovkin said that the official opening was attended not only by the academic management of VFU “Chernorizets Hrabar” but also by representatives of various state, public and professional organizations as proof of the importance of the School for all people working in the field of popularizing Russian language and Russian culture. He addressed the participants, saying: "This is a unique school, the only one in Europe for young specialists in Russian and you have to be proud that you are among the chosen to be here today."

According to the head of the Russian Center of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" Prof. Dr. Galina Chamonina the purpose of this event is to develop the scientific and creative activity of the young specialists in Russian. "The International Qualification School of Varna Free University aims to educate beginner pedagogues, to develop knowledge and skills that can be successfully applied in practice. The school helps young specialists in Russian, using the modern achievements of the teaching methodology of Russian as a foreign language, relying on good practices, creatively introduces innovative technologies in the educational process, creates conditions for acquiring practical habits and forming an individual creative style in teaching" she said.

 

 

 Traditionally, the official opening ended with poetry dedicated to the richness and grace of the Russian language. This year, the organizers selected a part of a poem by the Georgian poet Ioseb Grishashvili:

 

Как будто целый мир тебе знаком,

Когда владеешь русским языком…

Вот почему нам близок чистый, ясный

Народа русского язык прекрасный.
