About VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar"

The Summer Scientific Session of the Faculty of Law of Varna Free University started



The traditional Summer Scientific Session of the Faculty of Law at Varna Free University officially started. The event is held for the eighth consecutive year and presents topical scientific issues in the field of psychology, law and security.

 

 

More than 150 papers are included in the summer scientific session. Participants are scientists from 8 countries - Greece, Israel, Serbia, the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Poland, Ukraine and Bulgaria. The participants from the Bulgarian side are representatives of 11 universities and scientific institutes - the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", the University of Veliko Tarnovo, the Ruse University "Angel Kanchev", the University of Economics - Varna, the Medical University of Varna, New Bulgarian University, the University of Library and Information Technology in Sofia, the Academy of the Ministry of Interior, The Southwestern University "Neofit Rilski" and Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar".

 

 

"This is undoubtedly a respectable proof of the efforts of Varna Free University to develop the legal sciences, psychology and security and to popularize the achievements of Bulgarian and foreign scientists," said in his address at the opening of the forum the Vice President of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar "- Assoc. Prof. Krasimir Nedyalkov, PhD.

 

 

The Rector of Varna Free University, Prof. Galya Gercheva, D.Sc. commented that such events, in which scientific achievements and experience are shared, are among the most significant in a scientific community. She challenged the representatives of the three areas of science - legal science, security, and psychology to get into a kind of competition.

 

 

On behalf of the Mayor of Varna Municipality Mr. Ivan Portnih, Mr. Peycho Peychev, the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality, welcomed the participants in the Summer Scientific Session. He expressed confidence that the topics to be addressed in the two conferences would be reflected in public life.

 

 

The Summer Session started with three plenary reports. The Dean of the Faculty of Law of Varna Free University, Prof. Petar Hristov, PhD presented a report entitled "Contemporary Implementation of the Right to Security". Prof. Hristov commented on a wide range of topics by examining security as a synergy between law and psychology, addressed the clash of values between Protestantism and Orthodox Christianity and the various definitions of the word “security” in the context of "statism" and other contemporary theories.

 

 

The second plenary report by Prof. Emil Konstantinov, PhD - "Right to Self-Determination and Security" presented two main aspects related to the legal strength of the content of the right to self-determination and the issues of the national security of Bulgaria. Prof. Konstantinov talked about opposing the two fundamental principles, such as the principle of sovereignty and the right to self-determination.
