About VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar"

Varna Free University with yet recognition on the eve of 24 May

Today (23 May, 2017), at an official ceremony a scientific team of Varna Free University headed by Prof. Teodora Bakardzhieva, PhD received Varna collective award for contribution to the social sciences in the field of science and higher education.



The nomination is for the new Bulgarian-Norwegian educational programs at VFU “Chernorizets Hrabar” in partnership with the Norwegian Business School - one of the most prestigious European universities offering training in economics and administration. “The training in the programs in International Business and Finance is conducted in English and the students have the opportunity to study in Norway in the fourth year of their studies. An international team of lecturers and experts has been set up to teach in the programs, and the students receive two diplomas.


I would like to thank on behalf of the presidential and the rector's management of our university for the trust shown in us, for the recognition, but my team and I believe that this is recognition not only for our university but for the educational system of Varna, said Prof. Bakardzhieva upon receiving the prestigious award.







I would wholeheartedly like to thankour inspirer and main supporter in the implementation of our projects - Prof. Anna Nedyalkova, D.Sc. - President of Varna Free University and the Rector, Prof. Galya Gercheva, D.Sc., alsosaid Prof. Bakardzhieva.She also introduced part of the team that worked on the two innovative bachelor’s degree programs - Assoc. Prof. Eleonora Tankova - Dean of the Faculty of International Economics and Administration, the Scientific Secretary of the Faculty, Veselina Spasova, PhD and the Expert on International Activities and Projects, Anna Nedyalkova. On the floor of the Plenary Hall she thanked the team for the long way they have come and the bridge built between two educational systems - the Bulgarian and Norwegian, which puts the university and our city in the high rating charts of higher education in the world.


The ceremony was opened with the performance of a string quartet from "Dobri Hristov" National School of Arts. In his greeting, the chairman of the municipal council, Todor Balabanov highlighted that this year’s winners are people with keen minds and great dreams, a role model for all others and inspiration for young people.


The artist Ventseslav Antonov was presented with Varna Grand Award for his exhibition at the Graphite Gallery in November 2016, for the global recognition of the Biennale and for lifetime achievement.    


In the sphere of science and higher education, awards were received by Prof. Stefan Peev for overall research, teaching and medical activities in the field of dental implantology, the Faculty of Public Health at the Medical University - Varna for development, introduction and accreditation of three new specialties in 2016, scientific team of Assoc. Prof. Georgi Kirov, PhD, Chief Asst. Prof. Dr. Lyubomir Kamburov and Asst. Prof.  Dr. Georgi Chervenkov - for excellence in patent activities and significant international scientific contribution and Prof. Stanislav Ivanov, PhD - for his outstanding scientific productivity, which puts him first in the country among the lecturers  in the field of tourism by number of publications in reputable international scientific journals.


In the category of Technical Sciences with an individual award was presented Assoc. Prof. Eng. Kristina Bliznakova - for excellence in the field of biomedical engineering and for the study of new methods and technologies for diagnosis of mammary tumors.


With Varna collective award was presented a scientific team headed by the flotilla admiral Prof. Boyan Mednikarov - for the implementation of the investment project on Polygon for Practical Training in the Fight against Ship Fires.



Varna awards were also presented in the field of culture and in the system of pre-school and school education.
