About VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar"

The immovable cultural heritage and the energy efficiency became the focus of attention of experts and students



A seminar entitled “The Immovable Cultural Heritage and National Energy Efficiency Strategy” that the Bulgarian Green Building Council (the Bulgarian council for sustainable development) organized together with Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar" will be held on February 24 (Friday) at 13:30pm at the Yunashki hall in Varna.

The seminar, which will present the French experience in the field of implementation of energy efficiency measures in buildings - monuments of culture and the challenges for energy efficient renovation of historic buildings in Bulgaria, will mark the beginning of the new Master's degree program at Varna Free University "Sustainable Construction".

 

Speakers at the seminar are: Katya Samardzic, an architect and an urbanist at the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy of the Republic of France and Tybalt de La Laurence, an architect and a professor at the École de Chaillot, Paris, France.

 

 

 

 Architect Samardzic’s lecture "From the French National Strategy to Local Initiatives Regarding Energy Efficiency Measures in Buildings - Monuments of Culture" starts at 2:00 pm.

 

The next lecture in the program at 3:40 pm "Improving the Energy Performance of Historic Buildings – the Holistic Approach in Practice; Presenting the European standard EN 16883: 2017 “Conservation of Cultural Heritage: Guidelines to Improve the Energy Performance of Historic Buildings" will be delivered by architect de La Laurence.

The discussions, which will involve lecturers and students from the Faculty of Architecture at Varna Free University, architects and representatives of the construction industry will result in the development of specific recommendations that BGBC will present to the responsible institutions aiming at developing successful national strategy for energy efficient renovation of existing buildings. 

 

 

The task assignment for the International architectural competition, which will be held in May, 2017 will be announced at the forum. It will involve students from Russia, Romania, Italy, Turkey and Bulgaria. The initiative of Varna Free University will mark the beginning of a pilot project for the conservation, restoration and sustainable development of immovable cultural heritage in the city center.
