Inauguration of the New Academic Year 2016/17

With a solemn ceremony and church service for the health and welfare of students, lecturers and employees of the university, served personally by His Eminence Metropolitan of Varna and Veliki Preslav Joan the new academic year at the Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" was declared open.

 "Let the good teachings and words of the Holy Apostle Paul " All bear, hold for best" to be in your life incarnation of the reality of what one is trying to acquire.", said in his opening remarks, His Eminence, adding that faith and education are the two pillars of wisdom.

 

 

Among the official guests at the opening of the new academic year 2016/17 were the Deputy Regional Governor Mr. Christian Bogoyev, the  director of "Education and Youth Activities" in Varna Municipality - Ms. Lilia Hristova, the Mayor of Mladost region -  Mr. Hristo Hristov, the honorary consul of the Republic of Germany and the Republic of France in Varna - Mr. Nedialko Nedeltchev, the President of the Court of Appeal in Varna - Ms. Vanuhi Arakelyan, the President of the Administrative Court in Varna - Ms. Tinka Koseva, the chairperson of the Bulgarian Chamber of Shipping - Captain Bogdan Bogdanov, the executive director of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce  and Industry in Varna - Mr. Ognyan Spasov, the chairperson of the Chamber of Engineers in Investment Design Eng. Tanio Dimitrov, the President of the Bulgarian Construction Chamber in Varna Eng. Hristo Dimitrov, many parents, friends and partners of Varna Free University.

In his speech, the Vice President of Varna Free University Assoc. Prof. Dr. Krasimir Nedyalkov stressed that Varna Free University is a multisided institution which owes its success and its reputation entirely on the hard work of scientists, lecturers, students and employees. "For me and for the academic body of the university is extremely important that you always remember that we are one; that your success is our success and your achievements are what has built this institution to what it is today 25 years after its establishment." To the newly admitted students Assoc. Prof. Nedyalkov wished the university to become their "gateway" to the world of unlimited possibilities. "Remember that in the era of chalga there are events such as the Tall Ships Regatta, full of zeal and beauty. The honor of being beautiful white sails of our sailing together is yours and we will try the sea of your dreams to be smooth and without storms. I want to assure you that despite the troubled times for culture and education, you have become a part of an established institution where tranquility, traditions and academic spirit are still dominant", said Assoc. Prof. Nedyalkov.

 

 

He handed the student mark books and certificates to the eighteen winners of the scholarship program "I will learn and succeed in Bulgaria."

On behalf of the grantees the first-year student majoring Law Presiyana Popnikolova wished everybody a successful year with many challenges and new friendships. She wished her fellow freshmen to set ever higher goals and believe in themselves and their abilities.

Greeting on the occasion of the beginning of the academic year on behalf of the Erasmus students offered Alvaro Bodega from the University of Zaragoza, Spain.

On behalf of the Mayor of Varna Ivan Portnih Ms. Liliya Hristova, the Director of the "Education and Youth Activities" expressed the gratitude of Varna municipality for the joint efforts and activities that both institutions make as partners.

"Good luck! The university is with you, you are in very good boat. Judicial district of Varna has been a partner for years in an honest and very noble initiative, which is the education of future lawyers", said Ms. Vanuhi Arakelyan - chairperson of the Varna Court of Appeal in her opening speech to the students. "Rely on partners from the university, because it is better for a person to be with friends and to go through a dark forest than to be alone and go through a field", said metaphorically Ms. Arakelyan.

The ceremony was closed by student dance show featuring the Academic Dance Theatre "Chernorizets Hrabar" and hundreds of balloons in the colors of the Bulgarian flag flew toward the sky as a symbol of the free spirit of young people.
