Top lecturers will teach specialists in Russian studies at Varna Free University

    Varna Free University once again hosts the most popular forums for young specialists in Russian studies in Europe.

    The Eighth International Qualifications School of Modern Pedagogical Technologies in Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language will be held from 22 to 26 August 2016 at the Russian Centre of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar". It is organized by Varna Free University with the support of the Russkiy Mir Foundation.

    Apart from the impressive participation of students and lecturers in the Russian language from 10 countries, by tradition, top lecturers from Russia and Bulgaria are involved in the school.

    All courses lead to a common goal - to demonstrate the possibilities of using modern educational technologies in the practice of teaching Russian as a foreign language. The range of topics of the lectures, master classes and round table discussions offers variety.

    Among the highlights of the programme of the school is the master class of Prof. Leonid Moskovkin, D.Sc.entitled Methodological Game of Writing a Textbook. This is an innovative form of training designed for the future teachers inthe Russian language in which the professor of the Department of Russian Language and Methods of its Teaching at St Petersburg State University will share his experience in writing of textbooks and will present sample concepts of innovative textbooks. During the master class, the participants will develop a textbook on their own project.

    Prof. Moskovkin is one of the leading scientists in the field of methodology for teaching Russian as a foreign language. He has authored more than 200 scientific publications.

    Besides the master class, the participants in the school will meet with Prof. Moskovkin in the practical course in Concepts of Innovative Textbooks. The programme of the forum includes also his lecture on Productive Innovative Technologies in Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language. He will present the most common innovative technologies such as theatre, excursion, research and cinema technology, and their examination in the context of modern linguistic didactics.

    One of the favourite speakers of the young specialists in Russian studies, Prof. Valeriy Efremov, D. Sc. once again has an outstanding presence in the programme of the International Qualifications School. Both of the master classes of Prof. Efremov are connected with the myths in the Russian language and gender stereotypes in the Russian advertising.

    Apart from his impressive scientific and methodological activities, Efremov is a presenter in Radio Russia in St. Petersburg where since 2005 he has been an author of the programme entitled How Do You Say This in Russian?

    In the master class in Gender Stereotypes in the Russian Advertising, Efremov will focus on the transformation of the traditional patriarchal system of gender differentiation and polarization of male and female social roles, changing of the stereotypes of masculinization and feminization and their role in different spheres of social life, including in advertising.

    Apart from the two master classes, Efremov will participate with a lecture on Russian Language in the Modern World and practicum seminar entitled New Types of Dictionaries as a Source of Linguo-Cultural Information.

    Assoc. Prof. Nadya Cherneva is familiar to the specialists in Russian studies in Bulgaria as a lecturer in Russian studies and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Philology of "Paisiy Hilendarski" Plovdiv University. Her research interests are in the field of comparative linguistics, linguo-cultural studies, philosophy of language, intercultural communication, theory and practice of language training.

    The programme of the school includes two master classes of Assoc. Prof. Cherneva entitled - Multicultural Education and International Training - State and Perspectives, dedicated to fundamental aspects of the theory and practice of intercultural education and training in the context of global processes and In Russian: in Dialogue with Cultures - a kind of intercultural training designed for students majoring in the Russia language and culture, representatives of different linguo-cultural communities and ethnocultures.

    The lecturer of the Faculty of Philology of St Petersburg State University, Denis Bukin, will deliver the lecture entitled Why Do We Speak Like This? (a brief digression into the history of phraseology) and conduct the master classes in Network Tools for Lecturers in Russian as a Foreign Language and  With a Song We Cheerfully Walk …

    During the master class entitled With a Song We Cheerfully Walk… the participants will learn in an interactive form about different ways to use Russian songs in teaching Russian as a foreign language.

    The attendees at the International Qualifications School will meet with the renowned specialist in the field of language learning methodology, Prof. Galina Shamonina, PhD - Director of the Foreign Language Teaching Department and the Russian Centre of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar".

    Prof. Shamonina is a lecturer in the roundtable discussions entitled Young Specialists in Russian Studies - an Important Part of the Russian World and Methodological Idea: Tastes Differ or How to Work with Set Phrases in a National Audience.

    The participants in the roundtable discussion entitled Tastes Differ will work on topics related to the use of idioms, including names of foods and drinks in Russian and their native language. Each team will present their concept and methodically sound ideas to explain the meaning, origin, their use in speech and in the process of learning.

    The School - this is exchange of experience, thoughts, ideas and discoveries, it is searching for answers to difficult questions, it is a skill to express your interests and actively to participate in scientific discussions. The listeners discuss the most serious and pressing problems related not only to innovations in the methods of teaching Russian as a foreign language, but also in the field of linguistics, cultural studies and many interdisciplinary problems, knowledge of which will help them form their own professional and personal position, to find individual style of pedagogical communication and opt for creative teaching methods, said Prof. Shamonina - Head of one of the most successful projects of Varna Free University and the Russkiy Mir Foundation.
