About VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar"

Prof. Vladimir Chukov presented his book "DAESH (NON) ISLAMIC STATE

    The presentation of the book - "DAESH (NON) ISLAMIC STATE" by the author himself, Prof. Vladimir Chukov, D.Sc. - lecturer at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" aroused great interest. The event which was held in the in the Art Salon of Radio Varna was attended by students, citizens, representatives of the academic circles, of Arab communities, media. 



    The author of the book - Arab studies specialist, foreign policy analyst and one of the leading academics in the new Bachelor's degree program of Political Science and Journalism at Varna Free University, told interesting facts from his book. Prof. Chukov commented on the similarities and differences in the terrorist communities, the reasons provoking actions of terrorist groups and the measures to manage the effects of terrorist crises.

    "We need to have our own Bulgarian concept of perception of what is going on very close to us. We have partners, we have allies, we exchange information, but we have to select some information in a way so that it can benefit us and respectively we need to produce our own paradigm – the Bulgarian paradigm." Prof. Chukov commented the idea for the book on air of Radio Varna.

    Professor Vladimir Chukov was born on 22 April, 1960 in Athens, Greece. He studied in a French college in Tunisia and later graduated from the French Language School in Sofia. He graduated from the Faculty of Social Sciences at Damascus University, Syria. Prof. Chukov defended a thesis on The Political Party in the Arab world over the Past Two Decades (1970-1990). In 1998 he became associate professor, in 2005 - doctor of economic sciences, and in 2007 - professor. He is a lecturer at Varna Free University. He is a member of the editorial boards of Geopolitics and Philosophy Forum magazines. In 2008, he founded Orient.bg - information-analytical website on the issues of the Near and Middle East. He is a member of many international scientific organizations, including the European Association for Middle East Studies, Central Eurasian Society Studies and others.
