Democracy in the risk zone

    The President of Varna Free University, Prof. Anna Nedyalkova, D.Sc. opened the summer scientific session of the Faculty of Lawwith a paper entitled "Democracy in the Risk Zone".

In the spirit of the event traditional for the university which updates scientific knowledge in important areas such as security and psychology, Prof. Nedyalkova gave an overview of the characteristics and risks of the global environment. She highlightedbefore the large audience in Hall 2 of the Academic and Sports complex of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar"the failures of the free market and changes in the architecture of the global socium as one of the important trends in global development. Prof. Nedyalkova elucidated the specifics of the public sector and the model of transformation "borderless world - a world without rules." In a global power and depressing local politics the balance and the demand for interdisciplinary solutions to problems are important, said Prof. Nedyalkova.

    Among the guests of the scientific event were the Deputy Mayor of Varna, Mr Peycho Peychev and Mr Emin Pehlivan - Director of the Central Fire Department in Antalya, a graduate of Varna Free University.   

 

 

    Within the framework of the three scientific conferences on Development of Law in the Context of the Humanitarian Crises in the Middle East and Ukraine, Changes in the Security Environment and Applied Psychology - Opportunities and Perspectives and the round table discussion on Seventy Years since the Proclamation of the Republic of Bulgaria which lasted until 25June, over 150 plenary papers were presented by participants from Bulgaria, Ukraine, Turkey, Greece and Russia.

    Prof. Georgi Bliznashki, PhD - interim Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria (6 August, 2014 – 7 November, 2014) and lecturer at VFU, delivered an introductory paper entitled “On the Republic.” Prof. Bliznashki talked about the nature and the idea of a republic in terms of history and law, speaking about the Constitution and its role in strengthening the republican conception of freedom and civil society.

    The seventh summer scientific session continued its work with a round table discussion on Seventy Years since the Proclamation of the Republic of Bulgaria with moderator - Prof. Stefka Naumova, D.Sc. The forum presented the aftermath of 70 years since the proclamation of Bulgaria for republic, the power challenges before the referendum of 1946, the legal term of  "national security" in the context of its systematic and functional place in the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria, the issue of "border" between criminology and criminal procedure science, corruption - a threat to national security and others. Authors of plenary papers were Assoc. Prof. Emilia Siderova, Prof. Stefan Simeonov, D.Sc., Prof. Petar Hristov, PhD, Prof. Yonko Kunchev, D.Sc., Svetoslav Naumov, Krastyu Georgiev, Stanimir Trifonov, Valeria-Teresa Doncheva and Asst.Prof. Galina Kovacheva, PhD.

 

 

    Parallel with the round table discussion was launched the plenary session of the Fifteenth scientific conference on Applied Psychology - Opportunities and Perspectives. It involved known names like Pavel Alexandrov, Tolya Stoitsova, Lyudmil Georgiev. Within the attention of the scientific forum were the psychological explanation in the mirror of human personality, psychology, culture and subculture, psychological knowledge and education - between illusion and reality, the meaning and challenges facing the psychology of the present, the adaptive statuses of identity according to the social context and burnout syndrome in occupational health psychology in Bulgaria.

    The scientific conference on Changes in the Security Environment with a moderator  Prof. Evgeni Manev, PhD presented different points of view related to the global world and the issues of the local National Security (Petr Kuznetsov, PhD), conceptual, institutional and value crisis and scenarios for future development of the European Union (Prof. H. Georgiev, PhD, NBU), defence policy priorities (Prof. S. Dimitrova, D.Sc., Prof. M. Petrova, PhD, Assoc. Prof. Tsv. Markova, D.Sc., National Military University, Veliko Tarnovo University) changed security environment and competitiveness of education in the professional area of National Security at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" (Prof. St. Simeonov, D.Sc., VFU), the security of social organization (Prof. E. Manev, PhD,University of Library Studies and IT).

    The work of the summer scientific session continued on 25 June with work in thematic sections of the three scientific conferences on Development of Law in the Context of the Humanitarian Crises in the Middle East and Ukraine, Changes in the Security Environment and The Fifteenth Scientific  Conference on Applied Psychology - Opportunities and Perspectives
