“Photography as a means of cultural and historical heritage preservation” Master class was successfully completed

Master class, inspired by the photographic project “The Balkans – shared cultural heritage”, was held on April 6th and 7th at the City Art Gallery in Varna. It is part of the celebration programme for the 25th anniversary of “Chernorizets Hrabar” Varna Free University. It was attended by more than 40 university students, representatives of cultural institutions from the city, and amateur photographers.



“Photography as a means of cultural and historical heritage preservation”Master class was opened by the Rector of Varna Free University Prof.DSc Galya Gercheva, and the first module in it was that of the art critic Prof. Ivan Marazov. Participants got acquainted with the art of Thracians in the context of Ancient culture on the Balkans.



The Master class ended with the lecture of artist-photographer Ivo Hadzhimishev on “Photography as a means of cultural and historical heritage preservation”. He told the audience about his experience in the realization of the photographic project “The Balkans – shared cultural heritage” shown in several European capital cities. The famous Bulgarian photographer presented his work on various projects and drew the attention of the participants to the practical aspects of their implementation.

On the territory of the exhibition halls where for the first time, by initiative of “Chernorizets Hrabar” Varna Free University, the exhibition “The Balkans – shared cultural heritage” was presented, he answered the questions of the Master class participants related to various photographic techniques and approaches for presenting cultural and historical sites.

The Master class attendants were given certificates and shared their interest in future forms of education, related to art photography and cultural and historical heritage.
