About VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar"

Architect Petar Dikov visited Varna Free University

    The spring of 2016 started with a very interesting event for the architectural guild of Varna. On 1 and 2 April, the diploma thesis defence of the students majoring in Architecture was held at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar". It was combined with a public lecture on Urban Management delivered by Arch. Petar Dikov - Chief Architect of Sofia for the period 2006 – 2016. Members of the thesis examining committeewere once again lecturers and chief architects of several Bulgarian municipalities. The Dean of the Faculty of Architecture – Cor. Mem. Prof. Arch. Atanas Kovachev, D.Sc. established a tradition in this respect, and again invited guests with undeniable professional qualities who occupy high administrative positions.Alongwith the lecturers, the thesisexamining committeealso involved Arch.. Victor Buzev, Chief Architect of Varna Municipality and Arch. Petar Dikov - until recently Chief Architect of the capital city.



    The graduates of Varna Free University performed once again impressively, but the focus of the first day of the event was the lecture delivered by Arch. Dikov. He presented before the audience his views on urban governance synthesizing his rich experience. The event was attended by students, lecturers, chief architects of municipalities and regions, members of the administration of Varna Municipality and other guests. After an extremely interesting lecture concerning questions about the transition and the present-day problems of urban development, urban planning and architecture, dozens of questions were asked by the audience and the event continued for over 2 hours. The open lecture of Arch. Petar Dikov is part of a series of initiatives of the Faculty of Architecture at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar for meetings with top practicing professionals and distinguished professors from the country and abroad.
