Master Class "Knowledge Management
and Social Networking for Business"

23-24 November 2012

Typical for the society in the 21st century is that human knowledge is the most powerful tool for production. The topicality of the theme was inspired by the growing need for adequate processes for knowledge management (KM). In recent years World Wide Web has evolved into a new generation of Web 2.0. These are networking sites for social contacts (social networks), interactive encyclopedias, communication tools and managing tags for which online collaboration, joint work and sharing between users are of great importance. The relationship between the different tools for knowledge management and the learning process seems obvious. Adaptability and individual approach, profiling knowledge and flexibility in time and space are among the characteristics of the modern type of education.

The lecture courses will acquaint the audience with pragmatic solutions for knowledge management, and vision for information management. Technologies for knowledge management have been developed to the extent that cooperation and contribution are of such importance as well as the access to information. The participants in the course will acquire skills to initiate programs in knowledge management and apply them in a real business environment. Knowledge management involves the creation of a complete system that captures knowledge and transforms it into business strategies, policies and practices at all levels of the organization.

More and more companies are using virtual teams and work in a network environment to achieve optimal implementation of strategic objectives. So in the lecture courses of the master class are included technologies of Web 2.0 and the social software that enhance the possibilities, add more interactivity and provide user-oriented IT environment. The acquaintance with the various types of applications allows users to submit content which is easily manageable.

There are many benefits of implementing a system for knowledge management in companies, especially those which carry out innovative activity. Knowledge management encourages the flow of knowledge and exchange of ideas through feedback and cooperation. The used methodologies and technologies lead to better opportunities for decision making, reduce "cycle product development", improve public services and reduce costs.

The trainees in the Master Class "Knowledge Management and Social Networking Tools for Business" receive a certificate and additional credits.

The training for VFU students is free. It is recommended that participants have laptops.
