Specific admission requirements: Completed secondary education and successfully passed admission exams in Bulgarian language and Literature plus History of Bulgaria.
Admission exams: Applicants will pass written admission exams in History of Bulgaria and Bulgarian language and Literature.
Scoring: Qualification score will be based on the sum of grades from admission exams and the secondary school diploma in History of Bulgaria and Bulgarian language and Literature.
Additional provisions: For admission to VFU, the grades from admission exams in History of Bulgaria and Bulgarian language and Literature held in other universities can be applied as well.

• Procedures:
а/ Acknowledgement of credits based on documents submitted:
- academic reference or diploma from previous higher school education, subject to conformity with the curriculum of the Law Discipline;
- international diplomas and certificates in foreign languages (English - Cambridge FCE, TOEFEL; German - Zertifikat Deutsch, Sprahdiplom, Zweite Stufe; Russian – ТРКИ; French - DELF; Spanish - DELE);
- international diplomas and certificates in computer skills subject to correspondence with ECDL (The European Computer Driving Licence).
b/ Certification of knowledge and skills via examinations in:
- foreign languages (at the Department for Foreign Language Education);
- computer skills (at the Technology Institute).
• Credits award:
Students will be awarded credits as per the curriculum for the discipline of Law, based on exams passed in previous studies at higher schools subject to acknowledgement /а/ or based on the results from certification of knowledge and skills /b/.
Qualification requirements and rules: Successful completion of semesters is subject to semester examinations passed in all disciplines of the curriculum, with a total minimum of 3500 classes and a total minimum of 350 ECTS-credits plus completion of the required practical sessions. Diplomas will be awarded following semester completion and passing with success of three state exams, each of these to be awarded 5 ECTS-credits.
Discipline profile: In the Law discipline students will be trained in the educational and qualification degree Master, with professional qualification Jurist that will enable career in all law spheres. The curriculum has been developed based on Bulgarian and foreign experience in educating lawyers and in conformity with Bulgarian law. Three panels of disciplines have been included: mandatory, optional and elective. Provisions have been made to ensure a mandatory minimum of legal knowledge and possibilities for the students to make their selection of specialized courses in their discretion, via studies in the elective specialized modules: Criminal law, Civil and Trade Law; International Law; Marine Law; Public Order; Security. Student s will select a modules at the end of year 1 , to continue their studies during year 2 until their graduation. Curriculums for the respective disciplines included have been prepared based on the principles of interdisciplinary and combative law approach, with accent on practical orientation of training sessions though multiple case studies. As per the regulatory provisions, in the period of studies from year 2 to year 4, students will pass mandatory practical training for 14 days at the municipality, public prosecutor office and the court. Additional form of student tuition is working with the Legal clinic. Jurist qualification in the educational and qualification degree, Master, will be awarded upon successful passing of the state examinations in public law, civil law and criminal law. Education in the Law discipline is conducted by the high level qualified academic staff of VFU and experts-practitioners (magistrates, public prosecutors, enforcement officers, lawyers, jurist experts in public administration, Police , etc.) application of the academic credit transfer system, developed in conformity with the requirements of the European community system for credit transfer ,”ECTS" , will ensure academic mobility for the students and international comparability of knowledge and capacities acquired. Graduates in the Law discipline will acquire competences to practice as lawyers upon completion of statutory internship in the judicial system, notary office and bar and further upon passing with success a theoretical –practical exam by a committee to be nominated by the Ministry of Justice. Graduate students will have the possibility to continue their education in the next education and qualification degree, Doctor of Law, at VFU “Cherorizets Hrabar” , or any other higher schools in our country and abroad.
A great advantage for the graduates in the Law discipline is the VFU award of DS Label and ECTS Label by the European Commission. Students will be given incentives to participate in the R&D developments of the Faculty, and the best developments will be published in the university editions. Excellent students will be entitled on scholarships. For two or more students of the same family, a discount from semester fee by 25% will be ensured; provision has been made for social scholarships for disadvantaged students.
Main results from the course of education
Training is delivered via studies in three panels of disciplines:
Upon completion of the first two years of their training, the students will acquire a system of knowledge in the main spheres of theory of the state and law, as a significant superstructure of basic knowledge from the secondary school level. In parallel to theoretic learning, they will be prepared for professional rationalization in practice through internships and practical trainings. Cycle two enables the students to acquire:
- first, attitude towards specific field of civil law, criminal law and public law sciences, including under the influences of observations during practical trainings and relevant skills obtained; -second, after year three of studies, the students will be able to communicate in a professional manner with their colleagues and to provided legal support for citizens within the frames of the Legal Clinic, and to participate in circles of Civil and Trade Law and case study contests.
During the period of their studies, subject to regulatory requirements, the students will have 3 periods of practical training, each with duration of 14 days, at the municipality, prosecutor’s office and the court. Upon completion of semesters and successful state examinations, the students will be awarded educational and qualification degree Master.

Type of education: In the discipline of Law the studies will be conducted as regular full time and part-time course.
Rules for semester examinations, assessment and grades: the forms of assessment of knowledge and skills acquired by the students are: exams, ongoing control, defense of course papers and projects and etc forms of control, as specified in the curriculum and training programs. Assessment will be made as per the six level system (with words and figures being integers)and letter marks as per the European system for accumulation and transfer of credits, where the highest grade is Excellent 6 (А), and the lowest grade for successful passing of an exam and credits award is Mean 3 (Е).
Requirements for graduation: Upon semester completion and successful passing of the three state exams in public law, civil law and criminal law science, the students will be awarded educational and qualification degree, Master in the discipline of Law with professional qualification Jurist. Graduates in the Law discipline will acquire competence to work as law professionals upon completion of internship in the judicial system and successful passing of theoretical and practical examination by a committee to be nominated by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Bulgaria.
Graduates’ professional career : The disciple of Law has a wide profile , with qualification acquired as jurists, it enables a career in all spheres of law : judicial system (court,prosecutor office, investigation), advocate, notary, judicial enforcement office, international arbitration, public administration, police, businesses, banks, international cooperation offices, etc.
Possibility to continue education: Graduates can continue their education in postgraduate special courses, master degree programs, or may aspire to the scientific degree Doctor.
